A serious incident occurred minutes before the start of the match between RCD Espanyol and FC Barcelona (0-2). In the vicinity of the RCD Stadium, a vehicle caused a mass collision that affected several fans of the 'Perico' team, who were waiting for the arrival of the local team's bus.
According to 'Catalunya Ràdio', the incident occurred while a driver was trying to move forward with her vehicle. Apparently, after receiving a blow to the car and in the midst of the confusion - since her vehicle was also being hit by thrown objects - the woman became nervous and accelerated sharply, causing a chaotic scene.
What was the outcome of this incident?
According to what was learned through the social networks of the Medical Emergency System of the Generalitat de Catalunya (@semgencat), the unfortunate event left a balance of 13 people affected:
- Four affected in less serious condition who have been treated and transferred by the SEM (2 to Broggi and 2 to Bellvitge).
- Three affected in San Juan de Dios in mild condition.
- Five are being attended to right now.
- One of them has left on their own.
In turn, the Mossos d'Esquadra have confirmed that the driver of the vehicle involved in the incident has been arrested. In addition, the thesis with which they are working around this case is that everything that happened is a consequence of an accidental event.
The president of the Generalitat spoke about the accident
Salvador Illa, president of the Generalitat, offered information about the accident, giving perspectives on the scope of the collision. "It was an accident, there have been some injuries, none of them serious, fortunately. The security and assistance services have reacted quickly and the spokesman for the Mossos d'Esquadra has given explanations in various media, as I know, and, therefore, there is no major incident to regret," he revealed.
