The 2025/26 season has begun in LaLiga EA Sports and nothing has changed regarding arbitration controversies. Despite the league's decision to modify the selection criteria for referees for each match and the date on which the designations are announced, the television channel of Real Madrid does not cease the harassment against the referees.
In the run-up to the 'merengues' debut against Osasuna, the traditional arbitration report prior to each matchday lashed out at Adrián Cordero Vega (main referee of the match) and Daniel Jesús Trujillo Suárez (VAR), pointing out alleged failures by the VAR official in the 24/25 season that were detrimental to the 'Casa Blanca'.
LaLiga only announced on Monday the referees who will administer justice this Tuesday at the Santiago Bernabéu, but 'RMTV' prepared its traditional report in time to add maximum pressure to the referees before Xabi Alonso's debut in the season.
'RMTV' lashes out at the VAR referee of the Madrid-Osasuna match
According to the 'RMTV' report, Trujillo Suárez was in the VAR in the past Osasuna-Real Madrid match at El Sadar "and did not see or warn the field referee of three clear penalties in favor of Real Madrid", although they did notice a foul by Camavinga "in a residual play that resulted in a penalty for the 'rojillos'.
"And now he repeats in the same match on the first matchday. Is it a coincidence? Is it a reward?" asked the panelists at the 'RMTV' debate table. The mentioned match ended in a draw (1-1), a result that distanced Madrid from the lead in mid-February of this year.
The Navarrese team has not won at the Bernabéu for more than two decades (0-3 on matchday 32 of 2003/04). However, the Whites want to do everything possible to tip the balance in their favor to avoid a setback in Xabi Alonso's debut in Chamartín.
The last time Osasuna rescued a point as a visitor against Real was in 22/23 (1-1). Their last two visits to the La Castellana coliseum ended in a rout (both by 4-0).
Real Madrid's channel also didn't forget about Munuera Montero
Similarly, Real Madrid TV also left a 'dart' at José Luis Munuera Montero for his performance in last Saturday's Mallorca-FC Barcelona match. Although the two red cards to the vermilion team admitted no doubt, there was much criticism of the goal validated for Ferran Torres, which made it 0-2.
"They can change the name of the referees, but their record is what it is and, having seen what we have seen, we have the same doubts about the competition," the panelists said about the performance of the Andalusian referee.
The controversy of the goal was that, before the ball fell to the 'Shark', Antonio Raíllo fell to the ground after deflecting a shot from Lamine Yamal with his head. The referee could have stopped the match, but seeing that the defender had no injury from the impact, he allowed the action to continue.
The Mallorca defense stood still thinking that Munuera would blow the whistle. However, the referee made no gesture and Ferran finished without opposition, scoring a totally legal goal. The protocol invited the referee to stop the match, but the play did not warrant it. Proof of this is that, immediately after the goal, Raíllo got up to protest.
