Hansi Flick's FC Barcelona are League champions after a historic season for many reasons. In their second year in Montjuïc, due to the remodeling of the Spotify Camp Nou, the 'azulgrana' team was, by far, the best team in Spain and Europe, although the 'culés' were one step away from the Champions League final.
With the achievement of their first domestic treble in history (League, Copa del Rey and Supercopa) in the same season, Flick's team has completed an impeccable 2025, with three titles in five months and only a couple of defeats. In the League, the team remains undefeated in the second round, with 15 wins and a couple of draws.
After the victory against Espanyol (0-2), the entire squad and coaching staff were able to celebrate the most important title of the season and the one that demanded the most effort. Next, we review the best and worst moments of an unforgettable League for Barça.
📌Ups and downs of Barcelona on their way to the LaLiga 24/25 title
The season began with a streak of seven straight wins and 11 wins in the first 12 matchdays. However, after having a 6-point advantage over Real Madrid and 10 over Atlético, the team suffered a sharp drop from mid-November to mid-January, adding just 1 win and 1 draw in 8 appearances.
This allowed Madrid to escape to 7 points on matchday 20. Barça lost 5 games in the first round, 3 of them consecutively at home. The sensations were positive in terms of collective performance, but the defense and the physical aspect were aspects to improve after the Christmas break.
First home defeat to spoil the 'culé' 125th anniversary
One of the gray episodes of the season occurred on November 30, 2024 on matchday 15. Barça, in the middle of a week of celebrations for the club's 125th anniversary, received Las Palmas in what was supposed to be a Saturday of celebration in Montjuïc.
However, despite Raphinha's temporary draw, the team ended up falling unexpectedly by 1-2, with goals from Sandro Ramírez and Fabio González. In the second round, the 'culés' would avenge the defeat with a win in the Canary Islands (0-2).
Bitter fall to say goodbye to 2024 in Montjuïc
Just before Christmas, with Lamine Yamal injured, the 'culés' added their third fall in a row at the Lluís Companys (1-2). Pedri put the locals ahead in the first half, but Atlético, despite being against the ropes throughout the match, turned it around with goals from Rodrigo De Paul and Alexander Sorloth, the latter in added time.
Thus, Flick's team added their fifth defeat of the first round and moved away from the lead, but everything would change in 2025 where there was revenge twice (League and Cup) against the 'rojiblancos'.
The death of Dr. Miñarro, a very hard 'blow' for the squad
The most complex and sad episode of the season, without a doubt, occurred on Saturday, March 8, 2025. Barça and Osasuna were preparing to play the match corresponding to matchday 27, but minutes before the start of the match the club requested LaLiga to suspend it due to terrible news.
Dr. Carles Miñarro, who had joined the medical staff of the first 'azulgrana' team this season, died suddenly when the team was already in Montjuïc ready to jump into the warm-up. Miñarro had an excellent relationship with the squad, which received a tremendous emotional 'blow' with the news.
Finally, the players were able to dedicate the League and Cup titles to him. The match was rescheduled for Thursday, March 27, just after a break for national teams and Barça won against Osasuna by a landslide (3-0).
⚽The thrashings and comebacks, the hallmark of Flick's Barça
In total, Flick's Barcelona won 27 matches to seal their League title. Of these victories, 15 came by way of thrashings (7 in the first round, 8 in the second). The 'culés' won 13 matches by 3 or more goals difference, scoring 8 'pókers', 3 'manitas' and a couple of thrashings with 7 goals.
Against Real Madrid, the team completed 8 goals in 2 Clásicos, at a rate of 4 per match. In the first round, the Catalans crushed the 'blancos' at the Santiago Bernabéu (0-4) with a double from Robert Lewandowski and two other goals from Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.
In addition, Barça came back to win 6 matches on the way to the championship, two of them in the first three matchdays and another three overcoming a two-goal deficit, in the case of the duels against Atlético and Celta in the second half and with less than half an hour to play.
Epic comeback against Atlético at the Metropolitano
The first great comeback this 2025 took place on matchday 28 at the Metropolitano. Atlético, already eliminated from the Champions League, was playing its last card to return to the fight for the league title at home and took a 2-0 lead in 70 minutes.
However, Barça reacted with a couple of goals in just six minutes, tying the match with goals from Lewandowski and Ferran Torres. Already in added time, Lamine Yamal and again the 'Shark' sealed a victory that allowed Barça to escape in the lead.
Madness against Celta to sustain the lead in the lead
Against Celta, on matchday 32, a similar scenario occurred, this time in Montjuïc. The Galicians, who in the first round had drawn against the Catalans in Vigo (2-2), took a 1-3 lead thanks to a 'hat-trick' from Borja Iglesias.
Despite being against the ropes, Flick's team tied the actions with two great goals in just three minutes scored by Dani Olmo and Raphinha in the 65th and 68th minutes. In added time, Rafa made it 4-3 from the penalty spot to complete a comeback that was worth half the League because of how the match went.
Fourth victory in Clásicos and another thrashing of Real Madrid to seal the title
The last big step towards the title came on matchday 35, again against Real Madrid. The 'merengues' took the lead before the first quarter of an hour with a double from Kylian Mbappé thanks to the referee's favors.
Beyond having everything against them, Barcelona reacted with a goal from Eric García in the 19th minute and another bombshell from Lamine Yamal after half an hour of the match. Two minutes later, Raphinha made it 3-1 in the 34th minute and the Brazilian himself extended the difference just before half-time, crushing a totally broken defense.
Mbappé scored again in the second half, but the 'azulgrana' team, clearly superior, sustained a lead that should have been two or three goals difference. This left the table set so that, in the Catalan derby on matchday 36, Barça sang the 'alirón' in Cornellà.
Without a doubt, a season that will be remembered for a long time by the 'azulgrana' fans. Flick's Barcelona is a team that provides spectacle like few others in the world and football has rewarded them with titles.
