Hansi Flick's FC Barcelona closed LaLiga 2024/25, as it could not be otherwise, with a thrashing against Athletic Club (0-3). The 'Azulgrana' team surpassed the barrier of 100 goals in a season for the first time since 2016/17, reaching a remarkable average of 2.68 goals per game.
Barça, in addition, equaled Real Madrid as the teams with the most seasons of 100 or more goals in La Liga, with nine, seven of them achieved in the previous decade. The 'Culés' closed the year with a goal difference of +63, with 24 more goals than the 'merengue' team (78).
In total, Flick's team scored at least 1 goal in 35 of the 38 matches played, with the defeats against Real Sociedad (1-0 on matchday 13) and Leganés (0-1 on matchday 17) being the only ones in the entire season (60 matches) where the Catalans failed to score.
Hansi Flick, sixth Barça coach to surpass 100 goals in his LaLiga debut
In that sense, Hansi Flick equaled Boby Robson, Pep Guardiola, Tito Vilanova, Tata Martino and Luis Enrique as the only Barça coaches whose teams scored 100 or more goals in their debut season in LaLiga.
Robson did it in 96/97 (102), a year remembered for the 34 goals scored by Ronaldo Nazário. That League, however, was won by Real Madrid. Eight years later, Guardiola would win the treble in his debut season, with a team of the era that scored 105 goals in LaLiga.
The Santpedor native left in 2012, setting a record for Barça with 114 goals in LaLiga, although Madrid were champions with 100 points. Tito Vilanova would equal that mark in 2013, reaching 115 goals with Leo Messi in a state of grace.
The Rosario native was Pichichi in 2012 and 2013 scoring 50 and 46 goals, respectively. Afterwards, the 'Azulgrana' team reached seven consecutive seasons with 100 or more goals in LaLiga, with the top being the 116 scored by Luis Enrique's team in 2016/17.
Since then, eight years have passed to see a Barcelona capable of surpassing the hundred goal mark in the Spanish First Division again. The 102 goals of Hansi Flick's team are the seventh best mark in the club's history, equaling the record of 96/97. However, at that time, 42 matchdays were played as there were 22 teams in the First Division.
