This Friday (August 22nd), the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) revealed the referees who will be in charge of officiating the second matchday of LaLiga EA Sports 2025/26. In that sense, considering the fact that FC Barcelona will face Levante this Saturday, the referee in charge of the match is already known.
Thus, referee Alejandro Hernández Hernández has been designated to officiate the match between the Azulgrana team and the 'Granota' team, in a match that will have the support of Jorge Figueroa from the VAR room.
Figueroa, with extensive experience in video-assisted refereeing analysis, played a decisive role on the first matchday, precisely in the match between the Blaugrana team and Mallorca.
During that match, the VAR referee saw the violent action of Vedat Muriqi, who kicked goalkeeper Joan García in the face. After reviewing the images, Figueroa recommended the expulsion to the main referee José Luis Munuera Montero, which was executed.
How did Barça fare with Alejandro Hernández as the main referee?
In this context, the 42-year-old referee from Lanzarote has been in charge of refereeing matches for the Catalan team since the 2012/13 season, that is, he has been part of the referees who officiate Barça's matches in domestic competitions for approximately 13 years.
Therefore, it is worth noting that in LaLiga he has refereed 31 Barcelona matches, with a balance of 15 wins, 12 draws and 4 losses, leaving 2 direct red cards for the Blaugrana club.
As for the Copa del Rey, Alejandro Hernández Hernández has only been in charge of 6 Barça matches. These left a balance of 5 matches won and 1 draw, while in the Supercopa he only had to be the main referee in 1 opportunity, which ended in a victory for the Barcelona team.
Barça, going for the second victory in LaLiga
In this order of ideas, the Azulgrana team will go to the Ciutat de Valencia Stadium in search of their second victory, with the intention of clinging to the top of the league competition to not allow Real Madrid or Atlético de Madrid to dream of the league title.
In addition, unlike the Madrid teams, Barça started the campaign demonstrating a clear idea of the game, unlike the Casa Blanca, which won its first game thanks to a controversial penalty at the Santiago Bernabéu, or the Colchoneros, who fell to Espanyol as visitors by 2-1.
