FC Barcelona could add two more players to their infirmary during the October international break. On Sunday, Ronald Araujo and Marcus Rashford left the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán stadium with minor discomfort after the tough and unexpected Barça defeat in Nervión (4-1).
Both the 'charrúa' and the Englishman were protagonists in a disastrous first half for Hansi Flick's team. The Barça captain committed a very dubious penalty on Isaac Romero in the 13th minute, after a scuffle that Carlos del Cerro Grande, from VAR, considered a foul. Alejandro Muñiz Ruiz ended up agreeing with his colleague after reviewing the action on the monitor.
With Barça against the ropes, Rashford managed to score in the last play before halftime. The '14', who had already wasted a one-on-one opportunity against Vlachodimos minutes before, unleashed an unstoppable left-footed shot in the 45+7', volleying a perfect pass from Pedri to blast it past the Greek goalkeeper.
Ronald Araujo only played 45 minutes due to discomfort in his calf
At halftime, Hansi Flick decided to take Ronald off, bringing Eric García on. The change seemed tactical in order to freshen up a defense that suffered a lot during the opening 45 minutes. Alejandro Balde also came on for Gerard Martín, but the changes had specific justification.
In the case of the left-back, he had already been cautioned before half-time. And, with respect to Araujo, his image on the bench with ice on his left calf made it clear that it was a precautionary change. The '4', in fact, left the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán with some difficulty walking.
In the 45 minutes he was on the field, the Uruguayan completed 26 of 29 passes (90%), in addition to winning 2 of 4 individual duels. He also completed 4 defensive actions, with a pair of clearances and a recovery. Hopefully, Marcelo Bielsa will not make him travel for the friendlies against the Dominican Republic and Uzbekistan, both in Malaysia.

Rashford also ended up injured from a stamp Marcus
In the case of Marcus Rashford, the Mancunian winger was the one who looked most hobbled at the end of Sevilla-Barça. The '14' was cautioned in the 81st minute and, towards the end, received a heavy stamp on the ankle that left him lying on the ground.
Barça had already used up its three substitution windows, so 'Rashy' had to be assisted by the club's physiotherapists. On Monday, the relevant tests will be carried out to confirm whether, in the end, it was just a blow or something more. The 27-year-old forward is already Barcelona's top offensive producer, with 3 goals and 5 assists. Thomas Tuchel has called him up for the World Cup qualifying matches against Wales (home) and Latvia (away), but everything will depend on confirming his physical condition in the coming hours.
For the time being, the Barça infirmary has six players. Two of them (Raphinha and Fermín) should return in mid-October, just in time for matchday 9 of La Liga against Girona.
