Real Madrid now only has a 3-point advantage over FC Barcelona at the top of LaLiga EA Sports 2025/26. Xabi Alonso's team's draw against Rayo in Vallecas (0-0), coupled with Barça's victory against Celta in Balaídos (2-4), reduces the gap between 'culés' and 'merengues' at the end of matchday 12.

While the 'Casa Blanca' failed to score for the second consecutive game, Hansi Flick's team destroyed Celta's defense with a 'hat-trick' from Robert Lewandowski and the third consecutive goal from Lamine Yamal. Sergio Carreira and Borja Iglesias scored for the Galicians in a frantic first half.

On matchday 12, Villarreal and Atlético also took advantage of Real Madrid's draw in Vallecas to get closer to the top. The 'Yellow Submarine' defeated Espanyol (0-2) in Cornellà, while Atlético did their homework at home against Levante (3-1).

Now, Real Madrid is the leader with 31 points, while Barça is second with 28. Further back are Villarreal and Atlético, with 26 and 25 points, respectively. Betis and Espanyol complete the top of the table and the European competition spots.
