FC Barcelona's victory against Real Betis (3-5) left several statistical records for Hansi Flick's team. In the first 16 matchdays of LaLiga 2025/26, the Barcelona team has achieved 13 wins, 6 of which have come from comebacks. In the 24/25 season, on their way to the title, the Catalans reached the same number of wins after starting from behind.
This season, the team maintains its winning spirit intact. After securing three points coming from behind against Levante (2-3, matchday 2), Real Oviedo (1-3, matchday 6), and Real Sociedad (2-1, matchday 7), Barça has achieved its last three victories after conceding the first goal of the match.
Against Alavés (3-1), the Vitorians scored in the 1st minute, but Barça turned it around before halftime with goals from Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo. Against Atlético (3-1), Álex Baena put the 'colchoneros' ahead in the 19th minute. Raphinha equalized six minutes later and, in the second half, Olmo sealed the comeback
In La Cartuja, the Cules' reaction was much more forceful. After Antony's goal in the 6th minute, Ferran Torres scored a brace between the 11th and 13th minutes to leave Betis KO. Roony Bardghji and Ferran himself, before halftime, had the match settled.
Barça's First 'Handful' in LaLiga 25/26 and Seventh Rout of the Season
Lamine Yamal, in the second half, scored Barça's fifth goal, thus completing their first 'handful' in this edition of LaLiga. Last season, Flick's team scored 5 goals on three occasions (Villarreal, Sevilla, and Mallorca) and 7 on two other occasions (Valladolid and Valencia).
In the Copa del Rey, there was also a 'handful' against Betis (5-1 in the round of 16) and another against Valencia (0-5 in the quarterfinals), while in the Champions League, Young Boys (5-0), Red Star (2-5), and Benfica (4-5) also fell to Barça in this manner last seasonIn the first 16 matchdays of the 25/26 season, the Blaugrana team scored 6 against Valencia (6-0), the same amount that Olympiacos conceded (6-1) during their visit to Catalonia in the Champions League. Both thrashings took place at the Johan Cruyff and Montjuïc, respectively.
The other three thrashings, in addition to Saturday's against Betis, were against Mallorca (0-3), Getafe (3-0), Celta (2-4), and Athletic (4-0). The team has scored 47 goals in the league and another 12 in the Champions League, averaging 2.80 goals per game. This is a very similar record to the 24/25 season (2.88), after scoring 173 goals in 60 matches across all competitions
