Just over an hour of speech was enough for Florentino Pérez to once again ignite his relationships with FC Barcelona, LaLiga, and UEFA. During the opening of Real Madrid's latest assembly of delegate members, the 'Merengue' president harshly criticized the Blaugrana team for its involvement in the 'Negreira case'.
Referring to the controversies with Spanish referees, Florentino criticized that, of the 35 field referees registered in the First Division, none were chosen by FIFA. In this regard, he took the opportunity to take a jab at Barça for having paid the former vice-president of the CTA for years.
"It's also not normal for Barcelona to have paid, whatever the reason, more than 8 million euros to the vice-president of the referees for at least 17 years. He had important functions and it's a period that coincides with Barcelona's best results in our country, coincidentally," commented Pérez.
Florentino criticizes the agreement with CVC and promises action against LaLiga
In turn, the president of Real Madrid criticized Barça for having withdrawn from the lawsuit against the agreement with CVC promoted by LaLiga, allegedly due to concessions agreed upon between the league's president, Javier Tebas, and Joan Laporta.
"Madrid, Barcelona, and Athletic have sued us in court. I must say, and I'm sorry, that Barcelona also opposed it, but they abandoned this lawsuit coincidentally when they were able to register players thanks to LaLiga," Florentino saidRegarding this, he announced legal action against Tebas. "The president of LaLiga has acted at his own risk and will have to assume his responsibility." A comment to which the president of the employers' association responded shortly after with irony: "He outdoes himself every year with his speech. It must be due to the frustration of the few who follow him."
Florentino also did not forget about the Villarreal-Barça match in Miami, stating that it is "not normal" for LaLiga to try to impose an initiative that only benefits two teams economically, without the support of UEFA or the rest of the clubs.
"It is not normal for the president of the League to want to impose a game on us in Miami that doesn't seem normal even to Barça's own captain, Frenkie De Jong"
Lawsuit Confirmed Against UEFA Over Super League Case
Florentino Pérez's statement also made room for the 'war' with UEFA over the Super League. The 'Merengue' leader criticized European football's governing body for wanting to prevent clubs from organizing their own tournaments, as well as for implementing "competition formats that harm fans".
This refers to the Champions League and the new league phase that includes teams like Kairat. "We are therefore forced to play matches in Asia or near China...," he commented, while ratifying the club's intention to claim millions in compensation from UEFA, based on the latest ruling from the Provincial Court.
"We have both rights, the right to be compensated for damages in the billions of euros and to run our competition, and I assure you that we will carry out both," he stated regarding the Super League.
