Bayer Leverkusen is uncertain about the future of Alejandro Grimaldo for the 2026/27 season. The 30-year-old defender's contract ends in June 2027 and, for now, he has given no indication of wanting to renew with the 'aspirins', whom he joined on a free transfer in 2023 from Benfica.

The Valencia native, who came up through FC Barcelona's academy, would prioritize returning to Catalonia with the club where he developed. In this regard, journalist Mateo Moretto assures that Grimaldo would be attentive to a possible offer from Barça next summer.

The Spanish international was rumored as a possible signing for Barça last summer, but the club's Financial Fair Play issues closed the door to further reinforcements after the signings of Joan García, Marcus Rashford, and Roony Bardghji.

How much would the signing of Alejandro Grimaldo cost Barça?

The scenario, however, could be much more favorable in 2026. As he enters the final year of his contract, Leverkusen could accept a reduced offer for Grimaldo, who is currently valued at around 30 million euros on the specialized website 'Transfermarkt'.
