Álex Valle, a 21-year-old left-back, has been officially transferred to Como 1907 after the payment of his 6 million euro release clause. FC Barcelona confirms his departure this Tuesday, June 3, with the operation fully accounted for in the 2024/25 financial year.

Como makes Álex Valle's clause effective

FC Barcelona announced this Tuesday, June 3, the sale of left-back Álex Valle to Como 1907, after the Italian club executed the release clause set at 6 million euros. The operation represents the first sale of the summer market for Barça and closes before June 30, thus allowing the income to be fully accounted for in the economic balance of the 2024/25 year.

Official statement from FC Barcelona

"Como 1907 has made effective the termination clause of the player Álex Valle, who is no longer linked to FC Barcelona. The cost of the clause has been 6 million euros. The Club wishes him good luck and success in the future, both personally and professionally."

Valle, who had a contract with Barça until June 2026, is leaving the club after a period of loans that included spells at Celtic de Glasgow and, more recently, at Como itself, where he left a good impression in just six months.

According to reports, the payment will be made in two installments: four million will be paid this summer and the remaining two at the end of next season. However, the Azulgrana club will be able to register the six million in its annual accounts, having formalized the operation within the current financial year, thus reinforcing its room for maneuver in terms of financial fair play.

Cesc Fàbregas bets on Àlex Valle after his loan

During his loan spell at Como in the second half of the 2023/24 season, Álex Valle played 15 matches in Serie A, earning the trust of Cesc Fàbregas, the current coach of the Lombardy team. His performance was key for the Italian team to decide to incorporate him on a permanent basis.

"It has been six really good months, in which I have adapted very well and have been happy. Continuing in Como fills me with pride"

... declared the player on the club's official website. For his part, Cesc Fàbregas highlighted: "Álex has shown all his defensive and offensive qualities. He is one of the most promising youngsters of his generation." For the moment, Valle will be under the orders of Cesc Fàbregas, unless the former Spanish international jumps to the Inter Milan bench to replace Simone Inzaghi.

No room in the Barça first team

Despite his good projection, Àlex Valle was not in Hansi Flick's plans for the 2024/25 season. The consolidation of Alejandro Balde and the emergence of Gerard Martín in the rotation of the left-back closed the doors to the return of the youth player.

His departure responds to the club's economic strategy, but also to an evident excess of competition in his position in the squad of the first Azulgrana team.

Como, possible rival of Barça in the Gamper 2025

FC Barcelona is working on the preparations for its summer pre-season and, as every year, on the organization of the Trofeu Joan Gamper, the traditional presentation match before the fans.

According to the latest information, Como 1907, the team managed by Cesc Fàbregas, is the main candidate to play in this edition of the tournament. It would be the first time that the Catalan coach has faced his former team since taking over on the bench.
