Ansu Fati will be announced as a new player for AS Monaco soon. The Azulgrana forward, as reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano, successfully passed the medical examination this Friday morning, so his announcement as the brand new forward for the Monegasque team would be imminent. An operation in which the club's general manager, Thiago Scuro, played a key role in making it happen.
Loan with option to buy: possible details of the agreement between Barcelona and Monaco
This agreement, pending official confirmation, would be closed under the format of a one-season loan, in which the team from the Principality would have a future purchase option of around €11 million (according to Onze Mondial). It has not yet been specified whether this amount will be mandatory or not.
In turn, Barcelona would reserve a repurchase option in case Monaco chooses to acquire his services on a permanent basis and the Catalan team wishes to bring him back in the future.
All of this is part of an agreement that, as mentioned at the time, had not been fully sealed due to a disparity of criteria between Monegasques and Barcelonians. This discrepancy would have arisen regarding the percentage of the youth player's salary that both parties would assume.
Contract extension to alleviate the Culé's financial 'fair play'
However, apparently the solution proposed to this inconvenience has been to put on the table the contractual extension of the left winger, from 2027 to 2028. A renewal that would allow prorating his salary, estimated according to sources at €13.9 million gross per year, and that, added to the part of the emoluments that Monaco will assume, has turned this into a key operation for the financial 'fair play' of Barça.
The objective: to generate salary cap for the registration of Joan García, the possible arrival of Nico Williams if his incorporation is finalized, and some more renewals in the squad.
A golden opportunity for Ansu Fati
This, in addition, is presented as a golden opportunity for Ansu Fati, who needs to rediscover his best version at a football level. A question that, in principle, looked unlikely to achieve in Barcelona, a team that already has a stellar offensive front with Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal, added to a first-class revulsive like Ferran Torres.
Likewise, if the signings of Nico Williams and Roony Bardghji are finally made official, even more reduced would be his options of having a relevant role in Barcelona, where in the 2024/25 season he barely accumulated: 11 matches played (298 minutes of play).

Will Ansu Fati fit into Monaco's sports project?
Now, in Monaco, under the tutelage of Adi Hütter, his chances of seeing minutes increase. The tactical system of the Principality team, a 4-2-3-1 similar to that of Barcelona, would allow him to be placed as a left winger, in a position where the club usually lines up two of its most talented assets: the Moroccan Eliesse Ben Seghir and the Japanese Takumi Minamino.
Will the youth player be able to make a place for himself in the exciting Monegasque sports project? Time will tell.
