Hansi Flick's good management at the helm of FC Barcelona has led the German press to speculate about the transfer of several figures from the Bundesliga to the Blaugrana team. The latest player linked to the Catalan club's radar is Assan Ouédraogo, a 'gem' from RB Leipzig who has established himself as one of the most promising midfielders in German football.

The 19-year-old footballer arrived at Leipzig in 2024 from Schalke, for 10 million euros. Although two serious injuries kept him out for the entire 24/25 season, this season the player from Mülheim an der Ruhr has taken a step forward, with 3 goals and 4 assists in 12 matches (8 as a starter).

It's no wonder that Julian Nagelsmann gave him his debut in the last FIFA break, where the midfielder scored a goal in Germany's 6-0 thrashing of Slovakia. His versatility and striking ability make him a highly sought-after player in the European market, although he has a contract until 2029 and Leipzig, for now, has no plans to sell him.

Leipzig rubs its hands together over Assan Ouédraogo's future

Assan Ouédraogo is valued at around 10 million euros on the 'Transfermarkt' website. In principle, 'BILD' assures that Barça is one of the clubs keeping an eye on his future, along with Arsenal and Liverpool. For this reason, Leipzig is rubbing its hands together thinking about a possible transfer in the region of 30-40 million euros in the summer of 2026, considering he will still have three more years on his contract

The 19-year-old player feels most comfortable in the role of an **attacking midfielder**, but he can also play without problems as an **inside midfielder or left winger**. He has even been seen playing very well as a defensive midfielder or right inside midfielder, although his strong side is his left foot.

Due to his characteristics, some compare him to Jude Bellingham, as he is a lanky player (1.91 m tall), but skillful in ball carrying and a specialist in occupying and exploiting spaces.

Barça already has **Gavi**, **Fermín López**, and **Dani Olmo** as players capable of occupying the positions where Ouédraogo could settle into Hansi Flick's system. However, the departure of any of the three would leave a difficult void to fill in the Barça squad

Injuries, the weak point of the German 'pearl' on Barça's radar

Furthermore, there is another significant factor that could definitively distance Assan Ouédraogo from Barcelona. Despite his youth and talent, the midfielder is prone to injuries. **In 24/25, he suffered two serious knee and thigh injuries**. Because of this, he barely played 70 minutes in 5 matches for Leipzig in his first season.

Last week, a left thigh injury was confirmed again, which will keep him out for the rest of 2025. No one doubts the projection of the German international, but if he doesn't strengthen his physique, he risks becoming a failed prospect. Currently, he has accumulated 7 muscle injuries in the last two years. Too many for such a young player.
