FC Barcelona and Real Madrid could engage in a new battle in the market for the transfer of the new Dutch 'pearl', Kees Smit. The 19-year-old midfielder won the U-19 European Championship with the 'Orange', being chosen as the best player and top scorer of the tournament (he scored 4 goals).
Although he has only played one season with the first team of AZ Alkmaar, the latest information indicates the interest of 'culés' and 'merengues' in a footballer with a very interesting talent, projection and personality.
Despite the market rumors linked to his future, 'Keessie', as he is known in Holland, is clear that the best thing for his career is to first establish himself in the Eredivisie before thinking about making the leap to a big club.

"First I want to show here that I can do well and be important. The interest of Barcelona and Real Madrid is positive, but if I go there, I don't know how many times I will play," the player commented in a chat with 'HLN Nieuws'.
"I liked seeing it and reading about it, maybe they are the biggest clubs in the world. But there is still nothing concrete, just interest," Smit added. For the moment, the midfielder has a couple of goals and assists with the first team of AZ in 31 matches.
In that sense, the player from Heiloo does not hesitate to be self-critical about his first season in the Dutch elite, although he is confident of significantly improving his performance in 25/26.
"The potential is there, but in terms of goals and assists, it has not been excellent yet. I could have scored more. This season will be different, but I have to start playing to prove my worth," added 'Keessie'.
The price of Kees Smit, affordable for the big clubs in Europe
Real Madrid wanted to anticipate with a low offer, but both the midfielder and his club rejected the option. At the moment, the player is priced at around 5 million euros in Transfermarkt and, although his clause has not been revealed, it is rumored that he could leave for around 25 'kilos', although he has a contract until 2028.
As for his characteristics, he is a creative midfielder, very skilled with the ball, with a good shot with his right foot and a specialist in organizing his team's game. Not in vain, he says that his main references are Andrés Iniesta and Kevin De Bruyne, the latter with whom he also shares a physical resemblance.
