Alexander Isak has spoken publicly through his social networks about his situation with Newcastle United. In a statement, the Swede claims that the 'magpies' have breached part of the agreements they made with him last season. Therefore, he has chosen to break off relations with the club.
The 25-year-old striker was the top scorer for the 'magpies' last season, scoring 23 goals and providing 3 assists in the Premier League. He also scored 3 goals in the League Cup and 1 in the FA Cup, for a total of 27 goals in 42 games played. This shows the importance of the 25-year-old attacker for the English team, which does not want to be without its star striker.
Alexander Isak's explosive statement
Through a message published on Instagram stories, Isak has launched a very harsh message against the Newcastle board, accusing them of not complying with the agreements made and acting in bad faith regarding his situation.
Isak began his message by thanking his professional colleagues for their recognition: "I am proud that my professional colleagues have recognized me as part of the PFA Premier League 2024/25 Team of the Season." However, the message takes a radical turn when he referred to his current situation at the club:
"I have been silent for a long time while others have spoken. That silence has allowed some to express their own version of events, even though they know it does not reflect what was actually said and agreed behind closed doors."
In addition to this, the striker stated emphatically: "The reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time. To act now as if these problems are just arising is misleading."
Alexander also stated that he will not play for the English club again, so he is forcing an eventual departure from the club. The player from Solna is valued at around 120 million euros in Transfermarkt and has a contract until June 2028, so he could easily be worth around 200 million euros.
Liverpool offered 160 million dollars for the attacker, which was rejected, however, the current situation between the player and Newcastle could force them to negotiate with the 'reds'.
The Anfield Road team has spent almost 300 million on reinforcements this summer and now hope to incorporate Isak into a fearsome attack that already includes Mohamed Salah, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike. If the 'killer' from Newcastle finally arrives in Merseyside, he would be the '9', while Wirtz would play on the left and Hugo as an attacking midfielder.
Definitive break between Isak and Newcastle
Alexander Isak has not specified the agreements that the 'magpies' have breached, but various sources, including Fabrizio Romano, point out that they could be promises related to the club's sports project, a possible contractual improvement and commitments on competitive ambition and reinforcements.
Newcastle has not yet officially commented on the Swede's statement. It is expected that in the next few hours they will respond to the attacker's statements. With these statements, Isak could be ending his time at Newcastle, although he still has three seasons left on his contract.
