FC Barcelona made official the transfer of Pedro 'Dro' Fernández to Paris Saint-Germain. The 18-year-old midfielder traveled to the French capital on Monday and, after passing his medical examination, the clubs announced a deal that will leave around 8 million euros net in the coffers of the Blaugrana team.
The Barça Atlètic was responsible for announcing the departure of the academy player, as 'Dro' was still registered with the reserve team. The player from Nigrán arrived at La Masia in the summer of 2022 and played a total of 5 official matches with the first team and another 3 with the reserve team, in addition to playing 7 Youth League games last season.
Fernández signed for four and a half seasons with Paris, until June 2030, and will train under Luis Enrique from Tuesday. Unless there is a surprise, the midfielder could debut with his new team on Sunday against Racing Strasbourg (8:45 PM CEST), while he will be registered for the Champions League starting next round.

The 18-year-old player trained separately for the last week and a half at the Ciutat Esportiva, after informing the board of his desire to move to Paris Saint-Germain. Negotiations between his agent, Iván de la Peña, and PSG progressed quickly, while Barça also did not hinder the operation.
In principle, Paris was expected to pay the amount of his release clause (6 million), but finally the parties agreed on a transfer for about 2 'kilos' more, which leaves both clubs satisfied. Barça, on the one hand, receives extra compensation for the departure of the academy player, while the French avoid paying a larger amount in taxes for the clause payment.
Hansi Flick left him out of the first team, and Juliano Belletti did the same with the reserve team, as the player did not wish to continue at the club. At PSG, 'Dro' Fernández will receive an ascending salary, much higher than what Barça offered him to renew (he had a contract until 2027). However, for now, he will continue to wear the '27' on his back with which he debuted in 25/26 in LaLiga and the Champions League.
Once presented as the new Parisian footballer, the Galician player published a farewell message on Instagram thanking Barça "for almost four unforgettable seasons". The midfielder described the decision as "one of the most difficult of his life", and assures that he will remain a Culer wherever he is.
