The situation regarding registrations at FC Barcelona seems to be reaching a critical point. Although a quiet summer was initially expected in this regard, the reality is that, as usual, the Azulgrana team is struggling to register several of its players in the first team.
This situation is apparently not being well received by Hansi Flick, who in recent statements admitted that he is not at all satisfied with the situation. According to SPORT, the German coach has requested speed in the registration process to have the entire squad available for the match against UD Levante next Saturday, August 23, at the Estadi Ciutat de València.
However, according to the same source, the strategist is beginning to assume that this will not be possible and that everything will depend on what happens in the last week of the transfer market, as well as the departures that may materialize.
In this sense, Flick regrets not being able to count on, for example, Gerard Martín, whose registration is still pending. The left-back is seen as a key piece to strengthen the flank and the defense, especially after the departure of Iñigo Martínez to Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia.
Barcelona tries to avoid a new internal clash over registrations
At the same time, the coach understands that this delay, beyond the sporting detriment of not having all the players under his tutelage, can generate internal tensions. Here, the episode experienced with the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor in the 2024/25 season is remembered.
Even at that time, Joan Laporta had to go down to the locker room to explain the situation and give guarantees that both could play until the end of the season. An action that sought to avoid a major conflict within the Culé squad.
Now, although the current scenario has not reached that level, the players involved remain in constant communication with the Azulgrana team, who tell them that everything will be resolved before the market closes. However, as the deadline approaches, if there is no solution, the atmosphere could become even more tense.
The Culé goalkeeper puzzle: pending registrations and departures
Another issue that worries Flick at the start of the 2025/26 season is the goalkeeper position. A topic that had already generated debate due to the soap opera surrounding Marc-André ter Stegen and the registration of Joan García, and which is now aggravated by not being able to register Wojciech Szczęsny.
The non-registration of the Polish goalkeeper not only deprives the locker room of an experienced player, but also affects Iñaki Peña, who is not part of the German coach's sports planning. However, while Szczęsny is not enabled, the Alicante native remains as an emergency option, being the only available goalkeeper along with Joan García.
A scenario that discomforts all parties. It must be considered that Iñaki Peña has not finalized his departure despite having interesting offers, such as those from Como 1907 and Celta de Vigo, and that he must also assume that Flick is not counting on him and needs his departure to regularize the situation in the goal.
