In that sense, Fermín recognized two key factors in his decision to stay. In addition to his desire to play many years in the first team, the 22-year-old midfielder feels supported by the fans and the coaching staff. Therefore, he did not hesitate to reject offers in England.
"Not only this week, since I arrived at the first team I have felt very loved by the 'culés'. It is appreciated that for them I am an important player for Barça," he said regarding the fans. The networks, in this case, did their job while rumors grew about the interest of Chelsea and Newcastle.
In addition, López was sincere about his relationship with Hansi Flick. Although regularity is key for the German and there are no undisputed starters, the '16' feels valued and important for the coach's plans. "He has been very important, because I have always fought to be here, to play at Barça," added the player from Huelva in his chat with 'Mundo Deportivo'.
Similarly, he commented: "You know that in football you never know and there are things that don't depend on you, but my priority has always been to continue at Barcelona." For now, the midfielder has a contract until 2029 and his termination clause remains at 500 million euros.
The Premier League offers did not convince Barcelona
Beyond the interest of Chelsea and Newcastle, the truth is that the 'Azulgrana' team did not receive any offer capable of questioning the continuity of Fermín López this summer. The 'blues' offered a maximum of 40 'kilos', while Barça expected to receive no less than 70 million for the transfer.
