Fermín López could be included in the list of transferable players of FC Barcelona in the summer market. Although Hansi Flick is counting on the player from Huelva for the next season, the board needs to close at least one important sale to balance the books.
After spending 26.3 million euros (including CPI) on Joan García and being about to disburse the 62 'kilos' net that Nico Williams could cost, logic points to raising money with the transfer of an important figure.
Although the club is confident of returning to the 1:1 rule soon thanks to the pending income of 100 million for the sale of the exploitation rights of 475 VIP seats in the Spotify Camp Nou, Barça is still exceeded in its salary margin and needs to free up 'Fair Play' to register its new signings.
The departure of players like Clément Lenglet (Atlético) and Ansu Fati (Mónaco) is of great help for this purpose, but the Barça coffers will be hit after the signings of García and Williams. In that sense, Fermín is one of the footballers who can contribute the best income if, finally, he agrees to leave.
How much can Barça earn with the transfer of Fermín López?
The player from El Campillo renewed last October until 2029, keeping his termination clause at 500 'kilos'. At the moment, he is listed in the order of 50 M€ in Transfermarkt, with which his transfer can easily be closed in about 60 million euros.
López returned to Barcelona in 2023 and, since then, he has 19 goals and 11 assists in 88 matches, being one of the most productive revulsives in the squad. His good performances in La Liga, Copa and Champions have earned him a place in the National Team, with which he already won the European Championship and the Olympic gold in 2024.
Hence, clubs like Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Manchester United have him on their radar, although the 22-year-old player does not plan to leave the Barça team this year. Beyond knowing he is a substitute, Fermín trusts in his ability to fight for a place in the center of the field.
If he stays at Barça, Fermín will have more competition for the starting position
In the 24/25 season, the player from Huelva played 46 matches (22 as a starter), alternating his presence in the XI with Dani Olmo. With the arrival of another left winger, the '16' would have more options to play as an attacking midfielder, a position initially occupied by Raphinha.
However, with the Brazilian and Olmo himself as direct competition, Fermín would have to get used to delaying his position on the field several meters, giving a hand as an inside/midfielder. Pedri and Gavi are, for the moment, the only options for this role, since Pablo Torre's departure is imminent.
As things stand, Barça plans to listen to offers for the player from Huelva, as long as they far exceed 50 'kilos' and the player agrees to leave. For Hansi Flick, the best thing would be to keep López, due to his quality and regularity entering as a starter or substitute.
