When João Félix signed for Atlético de Madrid in the summer of 2019, the world of football began to prepare for what seemed to be, at that time, a player who was a promise destined to become a superstar. However, 6 years later, only memories remain and the Portuguese player is part of Al-Nassr.

In this sense, the Saudi Pro League team officially announced this Tuesday (July 29) the brand new incorporation of the 25-year-old forward, who will form an attack together with his compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo.

The player arrives in Arab football from Chelsea in exchange for around 50 million euros, between fixed amounts and a series of variables that were not specified, while the attacker would have been offered around 70 million euros for two seasons (until 2027). Al-Nassr will be João's sixth team after passing through Benfica, Atlético, the 'Blues', FC Barcelona and AC Milan.

Benfica wanted to repatriate João Félix, but the agreement was not closed

João Félix was very close to finalizing his return to Benfica, the club where he became known. However, negotiations between Chelsea and the Lisbon entity, chaired by Rui Costa, did not come to fruition in economic terms, which forced Benfica to step aside.

Thus, the firm interest of the Al Nassr coach, Jorge Jesus, together with the influence of Cristiano Ronaldo, Félix's teammate in the Portuguese national team, were decisive in unlocking the attacker's future and closing his incorporation into the Saudi team.

The forward was not in the plans of the Chelsea coach, Enzo Maresca, and in this way they recover the 50 'kilos' invested in the summer of 2024.

João Félix, without glory in European football

Atlético de Madrid paid Benfica around 127.20 million euros to acquire the services of a player who in the 2018/19 season participated in 43 matches (2,867 minutes), in which he scored 20 goals and provided 11 assists.

However, his time with the 'colchonero' team was marked by his irregularity, since in 131 matches he was only able to score 34 goals and assist on 16 occasions. He also had differences with coach Diego Pablo Simeone.

On the other hand, when Barça reached an agreement with Atlético to incorporate the player on loan for the 2023/24 season, the forward recorded 10 goals and 5 assists, participating in 42 matches, while with Chelsea (in two stages) he scored 11 goals and gave 2 goal passes in 40 matches.

Until now, his last team in European football was Milan, with whom he saw action in 21 matches, scoring only 3 goals. He has only achieved 2 titles, that is, a Spanish league with Atlético (2020/21) and a Portuguese league (2018/19), since he was not part of the Chelsea expedition that was crowned champion of the Club World Cup.
