The sports management of FC Barcelona has drawn up a roadmap for Héctor Fort, who did not have a leading role during the 2024/25 season. The club considers that the best thing for the right-back is to leave on loan so that he can have minutes and continue growing.
The problem with the player is not due to a lack of talent, as the azulgrana team sees him as a very high-quality full-back, but the fight for a place in his demarcation is especially demanding. With Jules Koundé established as an undisputed starter and Eric García emerging as a reliable option after a season in which he recovered his best version, Fort would not have real possibilities of playing.
This is how Barça wants to be aware of the player's growth in case he ends up leaving and, if he ends up exploiting his potential, to be able to continue counting on him. For the moment, only the option of a loan would be contemplated, according to recent information.
Dortmund or Paris: What will be Héctor Fort's destination?
The defender does not like the idea of playing with Barça Atlètic, something that the club would not agree with, since it considers that training with the first team and playing in the reserve team is ideal for a player who is just creating the foundations of his career.
In this context, Fort of Barça has aroused the interest of two clubs. These are Borussia Dortmund and Paris FC, which was promoted to Ligue 1 for the 2025/26 season.
The 'black and yellow' team has let Héctor Fort know that they would like to add him to their ranks. However, for now, negotiations for the player would be in the initial phase, so anything can happen.
In Dortmund, they consider that Fort fits the profile they are looking for. They consider him a versatile and promising full-back. The interest is real, and the German club sees him as a strategic option. The player, for his part, would be willing to take the leap, as long as his participation in the team is assured.
On the other hand, Paris, which for now has Hamari Traoré as its main priority, would also be evaluating the possibilities of acquiring the services of the 19-year-old player, who can cover both the right and left sides.
Fort, between the desire to succeed at Barça and have minutes
Although the '32' would like to spend his entire career at the Catalan club, he also knows first-hand that, for now, in order to have options for the future, he must opt for a move to a club where he has more continuity.
That is why he would not be opposed to a loan or transfer. However, it remains to be seen if his departure ends up materializing, for how long and to which team. At the moment, in the two pre-season matches, he has only seen action for 45 minutes against FC Seoul.
His arrival to the first team came in the 2023/24 season at the hands of Xavi Hernández, also remaining in dynamics with the blaugrana reserve team. However, in the previous season he had very little for Hansi Flick, accumulating just 710 minutes of action spread over 21 matches.
