With the opening of the market thanks to the Club World Cup, Iñaki Peña continues to attract suitors for next season. The Spanish goalkeeper has decided to leave FC Barcelona this summer and at least four teams (three from LaLiga) have already contacted him.
Barça is waiting for an offer close to 10 million euros, although the goalkeeper's contract ends in 2026. Therefore, the club was thinking of renewing him to ask for a higher price, but the '13' has ruled out this option, knowing that he is relegated in Hansi Flick's plans.
And, with the imminent signing of Joan García, the Alicante native logically runs out of a place in the squad. Even Marc-André ter Stegen himself, for the moment, does not have the position secured because the club is also betting on the continuity of Wojciech Szczesny.
Celta and Galatasaray, first market options for Iñaki Peña
In that sense, the latest rumors point to Galatasaray as the main interested party in the 26-year-old goalkeeper, who was already at the club for a semester in 2021. Iñaki played a total of 8 matches in which he conceded 11 goals, with only one clean sheet. However, he left very good feelings in the Europa League, where he had to face Barça in the round of 16.
The Ottoman team will return to the Champions League in 24/25 as league champion, a factor that may be decisive in the final decision of the azulgrana youth player. Similarly, Celta will also be in the Europa League next season and Claudio Giráldez would have opted for the culé '13' for his goal.
The Galicians were seventh this season and return to the international stage nine years later. In their last appearance in the UEL, the celestial team reached the semifinals. In both cases, Iñaki would arrive to be the starter of a project that is, at the very least, ambitious.
Two other LaLiga clubs want the Barça goalkeeper
In addition to Celta, Sevilla and Valencia are also very interested in the Alicante native. However, the absence of both teams in European competitions may condition the final decision of the goalkeeper. To this must also be added the salary issue, another disadvantage for Sevillians and Valencians.
Iñaki received a net salary of 3.5 million euros this season in Barcelona, a figure difficult to match for most LaLiga clubs. On the contrary, Galatasaray can even improve this amount, since the Turks have a much more comfortable financial situation. Will the goalkeeper opt for a second experience outside of Spain?
