Iñaki Peña is one of the fixed discards of FC Barcelona for the 25/26 season. Hansi Flick has already informed him that he is not counting on him, although the Alicante native has a contract for one more year. The Spanish goalkeeper assumes his departure from Barça, but his departure may take longer than expected in the summer market.

First, because the club hopes to obtain profits from his transfer (an amount close to 10 million euros), but there are still no formal offers for the '13'. In addition, the goalkeeper hopes to reach a team where he has the possibility of being a starter, preferably in LaLiga.

Clubs like Celta, Betis or Espanyol were rumored as possible destinations for Iñaki at the beginning of the summer, although for now none of them clearly see the signing of the Barça goalkeeper. Therefore, Barça does not rule out terminating his contract to facilitate his departure.

Peña played 23 games last season, conceding 25 goals and with a total of 7 clean sheets. Although he was a starter between October and December, he finally lost the starting position in January to Wojciech Szczesny.

Leaving LaLiga, an option that does not convince Iñaki Peña

Outside of Spain, Galatasaray is the club that has shown the most interest in the Alicante native. The goalkeeper played a semester on loan in 2021 with the Turks, playing a total of 8 games in which he received 11 goals.

However, Okan Buruk's team is also attentive to the future of Marc-André ter Stegen, although the German's muscle problems have cooled the rumors about a formal offer for the German.

The current Ottoman champion prioritizes signing another goalkeeper after the departure of the Uruguayan Fernando Muslera, but both Iñaki and Ter Stegen doubt the possibility of leaving the European elite, even when the Istanbul team can play in the Champions League in 25/26.

Iñaki Peña will not travel with Barça to the Asian tour

Beyond the uncertainty regarding his future, it is a fact that Iñaki Peña will not travel with the Barça squad to the Asian tour. The Alicante native has trained normally during the first week of preseason, but he will have to stay in Barcelona for the next two weeks, waiting for an offer that allows him to resolve his future.

Hansi Flick will take Diego Kochen as the third goalkeeper for the friendlies in Japan and South Korea. The goalkeeper of the subsidiary is emerging as an alternative to Joan García and Wojciech Szczesny in 25/26, with which the '13', like Ter Stegen, are left without a place in the Barça squad.
