Ademola Lookman's future seems to be in Serie A. The 27-year-old forward has 52 goals and 25 assists in 118 matches with Atalanta of Bergamo and, although he has a contract for two more years, the latest rumors point to Inter Milan's interest in acquiring his services.

The Nigerian expressed to the Bergamo team his desire to leave and, even, he was considered as a possible alternative for the left wing of FC Barcelona after Nico Williams' 'no'. However, the 'culés' opted for Marcus Rashford, who will sign his contract with the club in the next few hours, on loan for one year with a non-mandatory purchase option.

In that sense, the 'nerazzurri' team has found a free path to negotiate with Lookman, although the London-born player was also on the radar of other 'heavyweights' in Europe. Atalanta, for its part, could not convince him to stay after the departure of coach Gianpiero Gasperini (he went to Roma).

Inter prepares 40 million to close the transfer of Lookman

The latest information in Italy points to an Inter offer in the order of 40 million euros, 20 'kilos' below Ademola's current price in Transfermarkt.

The Nigerian arrived in Bergamo in 2022 from RB Leipzig and, in three seasons, he established himself as one of the best forwards in Serie A, scoring 39 goals in 93 games in which he also provided 21 assists.

Lookman was the 'MVP' of the Europa League final in 2024, scoring a 'hat trick' against a super favorite Bayer Leverkusen that arrived undefeated to that final. Now, the African winger hopes to form a lethal trident at the Giuseppe Meazza alongside Lautaro Martínez and Marcus Thuram.

Inter also begins a new cycle with Cristian Chivu on the bench, although the Romanian already led the Lombard team in the Club World Cup (he fell in the round of 16 against Fluminense).

Ademola Lookman 'ignores' Atlético's interest

In Spain, in addition to Barça, Ademola Lookman has also been mentioned in recent weeks as a possible target for Atlético de Madrid. However, the Nigerian 'ignored' the 'colchonero' interest, since Inter's offer, in terms of emoluments, is more attractive.

The 'nerazzurri' team offers him a 5-year contract, at a rate of 5 million net per year as a base salary. The agreement, however, is pending the 'Ok' from Atalanta, since the Bergamo team must pay RB Leipzig 15% of the transfer.

In Italy, another of those interested in signing him is Napoli. The current champion of Serie A lost Kvicha Kvaratskhelia in January and does not rule out offering a figure close to 40 'kilos' for Lookman, although it is difficult for the Partenopei to exceed the salary offered by the Lombards.
