AS Monaco is preparing two authentic 'blockbusters' in the upcoming summer market. Adolf 'Adi' Hütter's team has been negotiating the loan of Ansu Fati with FC Barcelona for a couple of weeks and, in addition, they are very close to closing a surprise signing.
The latest information indicates the Monegasque team's interest in Paul Pogba, who would agree to sign for a considerably lower salary than he received in his last stage with Juventus (almost 10 million net per year).
For Monaco, his signing does not represent a significant economic effort, since the midfielder terminated his contract with Juventus last year. In contrast, Ansu's contract does generate uncertainty in the Principality.
Are there obstacles in the signing of Ansu Fati? Monaco refuses to accept the Barça demands
In principle, Barça wants the French to assume at least 70% of the salary of the player from Bisáu, which is around 7 million euros net per season. However, Monaco is not willing to pay more than 40% of his salary.
In addition, the Azulgrana team prioritizes including a mandatory purchase option in 2026 for around 15 'kilos'. The Monegasque team, however, prefers to reserve the decision to close or not the transfer of the Spanish international at the end of the season.
Ansu was already on loan at Brighton in 23/24, with little success in Roberto De Zerbi's team. In a season where he suffered a couple of muscle injuries, the Catalan played 30 games, adding 4 goals and 1 assist.
This background, added to his limited playing time with Hansi Flick's team in 24/25 (he was the second player with the fewest minutes in the squad, 298') and his worrying history of injuries, raise doubts in France regarding the terms of his loan.
Paul Pogba, facing his last great opportunity in Europe
In the case of Paul Pogba, the 32-year-old midfielder has been out of action for almost two years (since September 2023) and, after terminating his contract with Juventus, he will sign for one season as a free agent with the team from the Principality.
The Frenchman has already served his doping ban (reduced after appealing to the TAS) and has recently shared several images on his social networks in which he exhibits a remarkable physical condition.
In his country, Pogba only went through the lower categories of Le Havre before joining the Manchester United academy in 2009. Adi Hütter's team will play in the league phase of the next Champions League and hope to fight again for the qualifying places for the round of 16.
