It's official! Lamine Yamal is the new '10' of FC Barcelona. The delivery of the mythical number, which was worn by Barça legends such as Leo Messi and Ronaldinho Gaúcho, took place this Wednesday within the framework of the institutional event related to his contractual renewal until 2031.
It should be remembered that, although the 'culé' jewel had already signed its contractual renewal agreement a few weeks ago, the player and the club chose not to hold any institutional event at that time or show images. This happened because, according to sources, the talented right winger wanted to have the presence of some of his relatives, who at that time were not in Barcelona, as was the case of his grandmother Fátima.
Renewal and number '10': a symbolic moment to mark a new era
Therefore, the event was postponed to a day that was convenient for all parties and in which a ceremony, both strategic and symbolic, could be celebrated - due to the importance of the moment. An event that marks the beginning of a new era at FC Barcelona.
The celebration, as it could not be otherwise, was attended by several members of the board of directors of the Catalan team. Among them, the president of the club, Joan Laporta; the vice president, Rafa Yuste; and the sports director, Deco; the coordinator of the football area, Bojan Krkic, and the director and member of the Sports Commission, Joan Soler.
An event that was scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m., but which, due to several delays, ended up starting at 6:30 p.m. There, images began to be seen in which a smiling and elegantly dressed Lamine Yamal was seen entering the club's offices hand in hand with his grandmother Fátima, followed by several members of his family and close friends.
Subsequently, as usual, the typical images that are taken when a player renews his relationship with the club were disseminated, especially highlighting one in which Lamine Yamal is seen in front of the model of the Spotify Camp Nou, in the company of Joan Laporta. In addition, on the iconic postcard appeared his mother, Sheila Ebana, and his father, Mouinir Nasraoui. It is the first time that he could be seen formally showing the number 10 shirt of FC Barcelona.
