The board of FC Barcelona needs to raise funds this summer to balance the books and resolve the arrival of at least a couple more additions, including the signing of a left winger. Among the possible departures that the team is considering is one of its center-backs, with Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen being the main candidates to enter the market.
For now, the club has five center-backs in the squad. Iñigo Martínez and Pau Cubarsí are the favorites to retain their starting positions in 25/26, while Eric García, barring any surprises, should renew his contract soon. Hansi Flick convinced him to stay in January and the player from Martorell responded to the manager's confidence with good performances in La Liga and the Champions League.
The '24' even performed as a right-back and also lent a hand as a defensive pivot. Considering this versatility, the Danish player and the 'charrúa' are identified as potentially transferable. Araujo is the team's second captain and, although his clause decreased in the first two weeks of the summer market, he has no intention of leaving and hopes to fight for a starting position.
The '4', however, was heavily criticized for his performance in the return leg of the Champions League 'semi-finals' against Inter, but Flick continues to trust him. Christensen, on the other hand, ends his contract in 2026 and, although the coaching staff also values his experience, he is the main one identified to leave. The '15' was out for eight months due to injury in 24/25 and could even leave with a letter of freedom.
