FC Barcelona and AS Monaco have paused negotiations for the loan of Ansu Fati. Although the team from the Principality is really interested in signing the player from Bissau, on loan and without a mandatory purchase option, the terms proposed by Barça do not convince the French team.
According to 'L'Equipe', the team led by 'Adi' Hütter only sees the loan of the '10' from Barcelona feasible by assuming a smaller percentage of his salary. Ansu earns around 14 million euros gross per year and Barça prioritizes getting rid of, at least, 60% of his salary.
However, Monaco believes that the percentages proposed by the 'culés' are unfeasible. On the contrary, the French team hopes to assume a maximum of 40% of the Spanish international's emoluments, that is, about 2.8 M€. Barça, in that case, would have to take care of the just over 4 M€ remaining.
Barça and Monaco must redirect negotiations for Ansu Fati
In principle, Barça saw Fati's loan to Monaco very close, which includes a purchase option for 12 'kilos' in June 2026. The player gave the 'Ok' to the operation, great news considering his previously rebellious stance in previous markets.
However, the last renewal of the winger (until June 2027) increased his emoluments, a major obstacle to finding a team for him this summer. If, finally, negotiations with the French team collapse, the board must move quickly to activate a 'plan b'.
Jorge Mendes promised Joan Laporta a high transfer for the player from Bissau, but his poor performance in the 24/25 season (he played 298 minutes in 11 games) has plummeted his market value to just 5 million.
In addition, there are few teams interested in signing him through a route other than a simple loan. That is where Ansu's salary weighs the most, because no club sees it feasible to pay the almost 7 M€ of the salary of a footballer with such a worrying history of injuries.
In any case, Monaco still does not rule him out and hopes to resume negotiations with the Barcelona team soon. Fati is, along with Paul Pogba, a market priority for 'Adi' Hütler's team this summer, although these are two very different negotiations. The midfielder has a letter of freedom, while the winger still has two years of contract in Catalunya.
Ansu Fati, on vacation in Uruguay while waiting for a call from Barça
While rumors about his future at Can Barça point to an imminent departure, Ansu Fati takes advantage of his vacations to travel through America. A few days ago, the winger was seen with Alejandro Balde in the Dominican Republic.
Afterwards, the 22-year-old forward took the opportunity to get to know Uruguay. The player shared a photograph on Instagram stories in the mythical Centenario stadium, where the 'charrúa' team plays as local.
Ansu, along with the rest of the squad, must report to Barça's pre-season on July 13. The winger does not want to hinder his departure, but prioritizes arriving at a team with options to be a starter and with a presence in Europe. Monaco meets both requirements, but the clubs still do not agree on a satisfactory loan for both parties.
