Robert Lewandowski once again demonstrated his love for FC Barcelona, without giving in to external economic proposals, however tempting they may be. His representative, Pini Zahavi, revealed in an interview the surprising amount that the Saudis offered the Barça forward last summer.
According to the 82-year-old Israeli representative to the Polish newspaper Fakt, the killer of the culé team rejected a staggering salary offer: "A year ago he received a proposal from Saudi Arabia that offered him 100 million euros per season. Per season! And he didn't want to go," he argued.
Lewandowski prioritized competition and titles over economics
Zahavi explained that Lewandowski's refusal to join Saudi football responded to his desire to continue at the highest competitive level and add a new season with Barcelona, with the aim of winning titles: "He wanted to fight for important leagues. He wanted to fight for the League and the Champions League with Barça and almost won all those titles."
- 📌LEWANDOWSKI'S NUMBERS AS AN FC BARCELONA PLAYER: 3 seasons | 101 goals and 20 assists in 147 matches | 5 titles: two Leagues (2022/23 and 2024/25), two Spanish Super Cups (2023 and 2025) and one Copa del Rey (2024/25).
Pini also highlighted that the striker valued aspects beyond the economic: "Lewandowski cares a lot about where he lives. He is delighted to live in Barcelona and play for Barça," he emphasized.
The Israeli added that Arab teams face a little-discussed problem: "Saudi clubs are overwhelmed with players and hardly know what to do with them. There is a limit on foreign player cards that greatly restricts the options. But anyway, Lewandowski didn't want to go to Saudi Arabia. He could, but he didn't want to," he concluded.
Lewy will continue as a starter, but Barcelona is already looking for his replacement
This context confirms the firmness of the striker, who will continue at FC Barcelona for the 2025/26 season as the foreseeable starting center forward, the last if his contract is not renewed. His impeccable physical condition and goalscoring performance – 42 goals in 52 games last season – could open the option of extending his stay for another season, depending on his level of play.
However, despite the continuity of Robert Lewandowski, the Barça club is already looking to reinforce the attack with a top-level name that can succeed the Pole in the near future. Currently, Ferran Torres seconds him as a reliable alternative, but options for the future include Julián Álvarez from Atlético de Madrid and Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart, players with the potential to become the brand new '9' of the culé team.
