FC Barcelona closed the loan of Marcus Rashford with Manchester United. The 27-year-old striker will land in the Condal City in the next few hours to undergo medical tests and sign his loan contract for one year, with a non-mandatory purchase option in June 2026.
According to information leaked by journalist Fabrizio Romano, the former United '10' accepted a 15% salary reduction to facilitate his arrival in Catalonia. The winger was not counting on coach Rúben Amorim and the 'red devils' prioritized getting rid of his very high contract.
In principle, Marcus was billing around 20 million euros gross per year at Old Trafford, so, after his new readjustment, he will earn about 14 'kilos' gross in 25/26, not counting performance bonuses.
His contract with 'Man U' expires in 2028, but he agreed to lower his emoluments, as he had done in January to go on loan to Aston Villa. The Birmingham team also wanted to get him back this summer, but Rashford only wanted to play for Barça.
Rashford's salary at Barça: figures and details of the agreement
In that sense, the Azulgrana team will take over the entire salary of the English international during 25/26. That is, Barça will pay the 14 million gross of his salary, in addition to taking over the bonuses linked to his performance (matches and minutes played, statistics...).
United, for its part, will not receive extra money for Marcus' loan, since unlike Aston Villa, the Catalan team will assume the entire fee of the striker. The 'red devils' did include a purchase option in the agreement, but this is not mandatory.
However, this will depend directly on Rashford's performance during the season, including the number of matches and minutes played. If the Manchester player manages to become a starter for a good part of the season, it is likely that Barcelona will acquire all of his sports rights in June 2026.
For this, the culé board will have to pay 30 million euros fixed at the end of 25/26. A reasonable amount, considering that the current value of the winger in Transfermarkt reaches 50 'kilos'.
Marcus Rashford, ready to travel with Barça to the Asian tour
Thus, the British striker becomes the third reinforcement of the Azulgrana first team in the summer market. The club signed Joan García (€25M) and Roony Bardghji (€2M) previously. After the collapse of the 'Nico Williams operation', Marcus Rashford found the free path to negotiate his loan.
The intervention of his agent, Pini Zahavi, was decisive in steering the negotiations with United, as well as Liverpool's refusal to accept a low offer for Luis Díaz. Barça was not planning to invest more than 60 'kilos' in the signing of another winger and, finally, will end up spending approximately a quarter of what was estimated.
With this, the door is opened to other incorporations, probably in defense. The board does not rule out signing another left-back, but for now the priority is to close the signing of Rashford and his registration before the start of LaLiga in mid-August.
Once the Englishman passes the medical examination and signs his contract, he will join the squad to travel next Thursday to Asia with Hansi Flick's team, forming part of the preseason tour.
The coach already spoke with the player by phone and it is expected that the attacker will be available for the first friendly of the summer, next Sunday, July 27 in Japan, against Vissel Kobe (12:00 p.m. Catalan time).
Rashford, more gunpowder for Barça's offensive trident
With his signing, Barça gains a striker with a lot of quality, experience and hierarchy, shielding the left side of the Azulgrana attack. In Manchester, the 27-year-old player scored 138 goals and 77 assists in 428 official matches, that is, he participated in 0.50 goals per match.
Raphinha was the owner of this position in 24/25, adding 34 goals and 23 assists. Will Marcus be able to compete for the starting position with the Brazilian? Dani Olmo, Fermín López and Gavi are the other alternatives for this area of the field.
Most likely, both Rafa and Olmo will move to the center of the area to play behind Robert Lewandowski, as attacking midfielders, freeing the left side to Rashford. However, the 'red devils' youth player can also play as a '9' when 'Lewy' rests.
With this, Flick adds much more gunpowder to a team that last season was able to score 173 goals in 60 matches in all competitions (2.88 per match). Unless there is a surprise, the squad will not suffer casualties in attack, since both Fermín and Ferran Torres are convinced to stay despite having more competition for a place in the XI.
