Pablo Páez Gavira, Gavi, is going through a complex moment at FC Barcelona. The midfielder knew that, after almost a year injured, it would be difficult to earn a spot in Hansi Flick's lineup. However, the few minutes granted by the coach in recent matches create uncertainty about the role of the Andalusian in the second half of the 2024/25 season and, of course, his future with the blue and garnet team.

The '6' was a starter against Las Palmas (played 57 minutes), but in the following three league matches, he barely accumulated residual minutes against Mallorca, Betis, and Leganés. Additionally, he did not play against Borussia Dortmund and, in 12 official appearances this season, he has only accumulated 241 minutes of play, with no offensive contributions (goals/assists) so far.

The Premier League is Back After Gavi

This situation has led several clubs to set their sights on the player from Los Palacios and Villafranca. Despite his serious injury in 2023, Gavi remains one of the best Spanish talents among midfielders, and at just 21 years old, he is a player with enormous potential. Considering that his contract expires in 2026 and Barcelona has not signed his renewal (the board hopes to resolve this issue in the first months of 2025), the European market is starting to activate for the Andalusian.

Recent reports indicate the interest of at least a couple of 'heavyweights' from the Premier League in the '6' player. Chelsea was one of the clubs that tried to sign him in 2023, but ultimately the player decided against leaving Barcelona due to his good relationship with Xavi Hernández. Looking ahead to the summer of 2025, the midfielder's stance could be radically different if Flick fails to fit him into his scheme for the decisive stretch of the season.
