Gerard Martín is one of the players that FC Barcelona can cash in on this summer. Although the 23-year-old defender is still the first and only alternative to Alejandro Balde on the left side, two Premier League teams may soon present very interesting offers for the azulgrana youth player.

Previously, at FCBN we pointed out Wolverhampton's interest in the culé '35', due to the imminent departure of their starting left-back to Manchester City. Vítor Pereira's team has enough money to go for Martín and could present a formal offer this week.

The same is true for Bournemouth, one of the revelation teams of the last Premier League. Andoni Iraola's team is also preparing to lose their starting left-back, although the possible departure of the Basque coach also generates uncertainty in the English team.

Barça can take advantage of Wolverhampton and Bournemouth's coffers

Wolverhampton and Bournemouth's reasons for betting on the Barça defender, in addition to sporting reasons, include the possibility of strengthening their coffers this summer. The 'wolves' have already earned 40 million euros net from the transfer of Rayan Ait-Nouri to City.

The Algerian left-back will play in the Club World Cup with Pep Guardiola's team, as will the winger Rayan Cherki. The Lyon striker cost 36.7 'kilos' fixed, plus another 7 M€ in variables. In the case of Bournemouth, the 'cherries' can also earn around 40 'kilos' for Milos Kerkez, who is expected to move to Liverpool.

In this way, Barça can easily demand a figure close to 20 million euros for Martín. The 23-year-old defender significantly improved his valuation on Transfermarkt in the first half of 2026, going from 7.5 to 12 million euros.

Like eight other culé players, the '35' improved his valuation and, as his clause is still 100 'kilos', the azulgrana team will have an advantage in the negotiations. Gerard has a contract until 2028 and, for the moment, has not expressed to the board any desire to leave.

Gerard Martín does not rule out leaving, but is in no hurry to find a team either

And, beyond knowing that he will be Alejandro Balde's substitute next season, Hansi Flick will keep his rotation plan intact to face an inclement calendar, with around 60 or more matches for the teams that aspire to the treble.

Gerard Martín was key in the last month of competition after Álex's injury, a factor that allowed him to close the season with 1,793 minutes of action spread over 42 matches (20 as a starter) in which he added 1 goal and 6 assists.

Therefore, the youth player is confident of continuing to be important for the team, either as a starter or substitute. If offers arrive from outside, there will be time to consider them. If he leaves, the possibility of playing in European competitions may weigh heavily on the defender, something that neither Wolverhampton nor Bournemouth can offer him in 25/26.

On the contrary, these are clubs whose main objective is to maintain their category, although Bournemouth finished the previous season in a commendable ninth place. The defender, in addition, will play in the U-21 Euro with Spain, a showcase that can help him find better offers.

If the departure of the '35' is confirmed, Barça would have to go to the market in search of another left-back. At the moment, Alejandro Grimaldo (Bayer Leverkusen) is the best valued alternative.
