Vítor Machado Ferreira, Vitinha, has been one of the key players for Paris Saint-Germain, the brand new champions of Europe. The Portuguese international has formed a fantastic duo alongside Fabián Ruiz, leading Luis Enrique's midfield towards a treble in 2024/25.

In that sense, several clubs are longing for the 25-year-old midfielder, including Manchester City. His good ball control, physical display, and technical quality, in addition to his powerful shot, make him one of the best pivots in the world.

Hence, among the possible destinations for the Parisian '14', FC Barcelona is also mentioned. The Portuguese could form a dream duo alongside Pedri González in Hansi Flick's team, but his price is, to say the least, prohibitive for the 'culé' finances this summer.

The minimum price that PSG would ask for Vitinha

In recent months, Real Madrid, lacking a midfielder capable of organizing the team's exit after Toni Kroos' retirement, explored the possibility of going for Vitinha.

However, PSG ruled out listening to any offer, even more so when relations between both clubs have been completely broken for three years due to Kylian Mbappé.

And it is that, beyond the approach of Madrid or another European giant, Paris would hardly let the player from Vila das Aves go for less than 120 million euros, although his market value currently reaches 60 'kilos' in Transfermarkt.

The Parisian team secured his signing in 2022 by paying his release clause (41.5 M€) to Porto. Since then, the midfielder has played 146 matches in which he has scored 18 goals and provided 12 assists. Discreet statistics for an authentic 'play maker' whose specialty is the distribution of play, along with space coverage and recovery.

Could Barça negotiate Vitinha's transfer this summer?

Barça suffered him last season in the Champions League quarter-final tie. In the return leg at Monjuïc, Vitinha scored the second of the four Parisian goals that sealed the 'azulgrana' elimination (1-4).

Looking ahead to the next market, the 'culé' board could initiate contacts with Paris taking advantage of the good relationship between the player's agent, Jorge Mendes, with Joan Laporta and Deco. However, the French team has no intention of letting the '17' go in the medium term.

On the contrary, the local press is already talking about an imminent renewal, even though the midfielder has a contract for four more seasons, until June 2029. PSG will try to shield the Portuguese with a significant salary improvement and would only see a transfer with interest through a swap.

For the moment, there are at least three players from the 'azulgrana' squad that Nasser Al-Khelaïfi is interested in: Gavi, Fermín López, and Lamine Yamal. Despite this, none of the three are on Barça's list of transferable players.

In any case, Hansi Flick's team has the pivot position well covered thanks to the emergence of Marc Bernal and Marc Casadó, in addition to the great 24/25 season made by Frenkie de Jong and the good work of Eric García as a patch when injuries plagued the squad.

Without a doubt, Vitinha is a world-class midfielder, but the '5' position, for now, is not a market priority for the 'culés'. In the medium and long term, the situation could change.
