The Catalan and English teams are waiting for their opponents in the next round while the round of 32 is being played. Their rivals will come from the clash between the two French teams or from Benfica-Monaco

The clubs ranked between ninth and twenty-fourth place begin to pay their 'penitence'. Between this Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as those of next week, the matches of the round of 32 will be played. This is the preliminary phase for the round of 16. These are two extra matches that those teams that have finished the European league in the top eight do not have to play. Liverpool and Barça, after qualifying for the qualifiers as first and second, rest in this round and their rivals will come out of Brest-PSG or Benfica-Monaco.

This Tuesday the clash between the two French teams will take place. The Parisian team, managed by Luis Enrique, is first in Ligue 1 and is undefeated in 2025. Led by a Dembélé who has found an astonishing ease for scoring, he will seek to access the next round against an opponent who has had his measure for years. The red and blue team had to fight until the last matchday to be among the 24 teams heading for the knockouts. However, they solved the situation by beating Stuttgart (1-4) away.

For their part, Brest are living a very different reality. Last season they achieved a historic qualification for the Champions League and this year they are making the most of the experience. They finished the league in 18th place with 4 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses, the same summary as PSG, although with a goal difference of -1 compared to their opponent's +5. As for the domestic championship, Les Pirates are in eighth place, 2 points behind the Conference League and 6 behind the Europa League and the Champions League. They had a relatively comfortable first European phase, as they added several victories early on.

PSG have won all their clashes against Brest

This Tuesday, at 18:45, at the Stade de Roudourou, the first European clash between these two teams will take place. It will be, like the rest of the matches that the Breton team has played at home in the tournament, at the Guingamp stadium, as UEFA did not grant approval to the Stade Francis-Le Blé to host Champions League matches. Despite this being the first continental duel in which PSG and Brest face each other, they have done so many times in the Coupe de France and Ligue 1.

The reality is that the record is very negative for Éric Roy's pupils. They have faced each other on 20 occasions, 17 in the domestic championship and 3 in the national knockout tournament, and the team from the French capital has emerged victorious in 18 of them. On the other hand, they have drawn twice. These results are from 2010 to 2025. The most recent precedent was on February 1st and Luis Enrique's men took all three points (2-5).

On paper, Paris Saint-Germain are the big favourites to advance to the tie. However, Stade Brestois have shown that they will make the most of their participation in the top continental club competition. The first duel will take place on Tuesday while the tie will be decided on Wednesday of the following week. In the meantime, Barça and Liverpool are waiting to find out their respective rivals.
