Barça once again failed to score, 54 games later. Against Chelsea (3-0), Hansi Flick's team ended the club's best scoring streak in history

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona fell to Chelsea (3-0) at Stamford Bridge and ended an incredible streak of 53 consecutive games scoring. For the first time since December 15, 2024 (0-1 defeat against Leganés), the Blaugrana team failed to score and, this time, conceded a harsh defeat, the second largest during the German's tenure.

An unrecognizable Blaugrana side paid dearly for their mistakes and Ronald Araujo's expulsion before halftime to complete a performance to forget. **The team barely managed five shots, two of them on target during the 90 minutes**. Furthermore, they lost possession (52% to 48%) and were never close to even tying the score after falling behind.

First goalless match for Flick's Barça in Champions League

Barça had been scoring at least one goal in every game for almost a year (345 days), averaging 2.79 goals per match during that period. Furthermore, the Catalan team had a streak of 19 consecutive games scoring in the Champions League with Flick on the bench.

A streak that, in fact, reached 25 matches, including the last 6 games managed by Xavi Hernández in the 23/24 tournament. The last time Barça had fallen in the Champions League without scoring was on November 7, 2023, against Shakhtar Donetsk (1-0).

End to an eleven-month streak of uninterrupted Barça goals

Flick's historic Barça streak began after the stumble against Leganés and lasted just over eleven months of official matches without exception, scoring. In total, there were 53 consecutive games scoring, spread across:

  1. 34 LaLiga matchdays
  2. 12 Champions League matches
  3. 5 Copa del Rey matches
  4. 2 Spanish Super Cup matches

151 goals in 53 matches

Adding the 4 goals against Athletic, Barça accumulated 151 goals during this streak. The club's previous record dated from between November 1942 and February 1944, when Barça, with Juan José Nogués on the bench, managed 44 consecutive games scoring.

This historic mark has been widely surpassed by Hansi Flick's team, exceeding what was achieved by the most decorated Barça coaches, including Johan Cruyff, Pep Guardiola, and Luis Enrique.

Since the German's arrival, this was only the third match in which Barça failed to score. In addition to the aforementioned match against Leganés, the team also lost to Real Sociedad (1-0) on November 10, 2024.
