Barça's list for the Champions League 25/26: A surprise youth player and Ter Stegen enabled, but in doubt

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona registered its 23 players for the league phase of the UEFA Champions League, including a total of three goalkeepers, eight defenders, four midfielders and eight forwards. The main novelty is the inclusion of Roony Bardghji and Marc-André ter Stegen.

The German appears with his usual number ('1'), although he will be out for at least four months. With this, he could only return at the end of November or the beginning of December. However, the club is betting on his recovery until January 2026, when his future will again be in doubt with the opening of the winter market.

'Matts' has run out of place in the squad after the signing of Joan García and Wojciech Szczesny. In fact, his injury served to register the former Espanyol goalkeeper, star signing of the summer for Barça in exchange for 25 million euros.

The great bet of Barça? Roony Bardghji will play the Champions League

Bardghji, meanwhile, was also enabled for the Champions League once his registration with Barça Atlètic was resolved. As they did not have enough 'Fair Play', the club preferred to keep the Swede with a reserve team card to avoid problems with LaLiga. In Europe, he will wear the number '28', while in the preseason he used Lamine Yamal's old number ('19').

Along with Roony appear, as forwards, Ferran Torres, Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Marcus Rashford and Dani Olmo. The Terrassa player appears as an attacker in the official UEFA list, while Marc Casadó is included among the team's defenders.

Therefore, only Gavi, Pedri, Frenkie de Jong and Marc Bernal are in the midfield position. The Berga player hopes to reappear in an official call-up against Valencia, while his debut in Europe could take place against Newcastle, on matchday 1.

Barça will register the rest of the youth players in its 'List B' of the Champions League

In that sense, the azulgrana squad is completed by Alejandro Balde, Ronald Araujo, Pau Cubarsí, Andreas Christensen, Gerard Martín, Jules Koundé and Eric García. In the case of the youth players Guille Fernández, Toni Fernández, 'Dro', Jofre Torrents and Diego Kochen, they will be part of the 'List B' as reserve team players.

Roony Bardghji could not be included in this list, as it is reserved for youth players and players with a minimum of 2 years at the club. Any youth player who meets this requirement can be part of the list if Barça registers him at least 24 hours before each of the eight league phase matches.
