Hansi Flick continues to elevate his name as a coach in the UEFA Champions League, this time from the bench of FC Barcelona.

The German coach, Hansi Flick, arrived to make history in the UEFA Champions League. His milestone began to take shape on November 6, 2019, when he coached for the first time in the Champions League. On that occasion, he did so from the Bayern Munich bench against Olympiakos, but to become number 1 in his achievement as a coach, Barcelona must also be included in the equation.

Flick only needed to coach, to date, 27 matches in the Champions League to be the technical director with the highest winning percentage in relation to the matches coached. The one from Heidelberg has 23 victories; this represents 85% of the total, becoming the highest figure recorded in the history of the top European competition by a coach with a minimum of 25 matches.

The Barcelona coach is followed by Jupp Heynckes, who reached 70%, and who in his day also knew what it was like to be the coach of Bayern Munich.

During his time as coach of the Bavarian team, Flick achieved 16 victories and one draw. His only defeat was against PSG in April 2021, shortly before being announced as the coach of the German national team.

Now at Barcelona, his numbers reflect what the team shows on the field, that is, a desire for victory and glory. With the blaugrana in the Champions he has 7 victories, one draw, and one defeat, against Monaco in his debut.

Flick has defeated Young Boys (5-0), Bayern Munich (4-1), Red Star (2-5), Dortmund (2-3), Benfica (4-5), and again Benfica (0-1), for a total of 23 matches won in the tournament between the two clubs. His only defeat this season in Europe was against Monaco (2-1), while Atalanta salvaged a draw in Montjuïc (2-2).

Pep Guardiola occupies a place in the top 10 with a 61% win rate (112 of 181). He is followed by Zidane with 60% (32 of 53), Van Gaal with another 60% (57 of 95), and Ancelotti, one of the coaches with the most matches coached, is out with a 58% (126 of 215).
