Simone Inzaghi, coach of Inter Milan, appeared at a press conference prior to the first leg of the UEFA Champions League 2024-25 semi-finals between FC Barcelona and the 'nerazzurri' team. He did so as did Hansi Flick and Lamine Yamal, for the azulgrana club, and Lautaro Martínez for the Italian side.

The Italian coach addressed various topics related to Barcelona, which he has studied in depth ahead of this European clash. Inzaghi made it clear that he greatly respects the Catalan club, but also assured that his team feels no fear. "We know them, Flick has given them great organization and offensive phase. It is one of the most organized teams in the world, with many players who have grown up in the youth academy. They have incredible numbers, they have won two titles and we have the utmost respect for them, but no fear. The Champions League has a lot of competition and we have had a great run. We want to play two games like the real Inter," he warned.

The keys to stopping FC Barcelona

Inzaghi explained some of the tactical keys that they will have to apply to counteract Barcelona's game: "With Barcelona we will have to dribble well and be clean to avoid their attacks. We will also have to defend as a team when necessary".

Inzaghi sees the azulgrana team as more solid than two years ago

The Inter coach also praised the evolution of Barça since their last match, highlighting the institutional and footballing solidity of the club. "Barcelona is a well-built team over time. We played against them two years ago and even then it was clear that they were a great team. They have technique and everything they need to play a great game. Flick is giving them great organization," he argued.

Marcus Thuram, in doubt until the last minute

Inzaghi did not want to confirm whether he will be able to count on Marcus Thuram, who is recovering from an injury. The striker is a key piece for Inter's attack, but his presence is still uncertain. "For the formation we will see. Thuram has trained today for the first time. He has given good signs, but I have to evaluate him tomorrow morning. I will talk to him. The others, except Pavard, are all there. In defense I have Bisseck, Darmian, De Vrij, also Dumfries who we missed and can be a starter," he revealed.

Praise for Lamine Yamal

As it could not be otherwise, the Italian coach dedicated words of admiration to Lamine Yamal, one of the great sensations of Barcelona this season. "We have to congratulate Barcelona for their work with the youth academy. I think he is a unique talent, he makes great plays and puts them at the service of the team. Tomorrow he will be a special player, although they not only have him among their important players," he said.
