Lewandowski returns this Tuesday against Inter. The '9' is one goal away from 100 with Barça. Will he achieve his century in the Champions League?
The visit of FC Barcelona to Inter Milan this Tuesday (21:00 CEST) will be a new opportunity for Robert Lewandowski to celebrate his scoring century with the Blaugrana team.
The experienced striker received medical clearance on Monday, which means he was included in the squad for the Champions League semi-final second leg against the 'Nerazzurri' team, where Barça is obliged to win to qualify for the final.
In that sense, the setting looks unbeatable for 'Lewy' to reach 100 goals as a culé, after being just one goal away from the round figure after the first leg of the quarter-finals against Borussia Dormtund (4-0).
The Polish player already scored a double against Inter with Barça in the Champions League in October 2022, during the draw (3-3) on the fourth matchday of the 2022/23 group stage.
Lewandowski seeks to break a streak of three games without scoring
For the '9' culé, in addition, the match against Inter will be his fourth opportunity to celebrate his number 100 goal with the Blaugrana shirt. Before getting injured against Celta, Robert failed to shake the nets against Leganés (0-1), Dortmund (3-1) and the match against the Galicians (4-3).
Afterwards, he was out against Mallorca (1-0), Real Madrid (3-2 in the Cup) and Valladolid (1-2), which means he has gone almost a month without scoring. The '9' scored a double in Montjuïc against Dortmund (April 9), but could not reach the historic figure in his next three appearances.
So far, Lewandowski has 99 goals with Barça in 143 appearances divided as follows:
- LaLiga: 67 goals in 100 matches.
- UEFA Champions League: 19 goals in 26 matches.
- Copa del Rey: 7 goals in 9 matches.
- Spanish Super Cup: 5 goals in 6 matches.
- UEFA Europa League: 1 goal in 2 matches.
2024-25, by far, is being his best season with Barça. The 36-year-old striker has 40 goals in 48 matches, with an average of 0.83 goals per match. In the Champions League, he is still in the 'race' for the Pichichi with 11 goals, two less than Serhou Guirassy (13) and one goal behind Raphinha (12).
