Robert Lewandowski finished the group stage of the UEFA Champions League as the tournament's top scorer. The Pole scored 9 goals in 8 matches, 3 of them from penalties.
FC Barcelona concluded the group stage of the UEFA Champions League with a draw against Atalanta (2-2), a match where Robert Lewandowski, despite not scoring any goals, managed to remain the tournament's top scorer. The Pole scored 9 goals in the 8 group stage matches, one more than his teammate Raphinha (8), leading the devastating attack of the Blaugrana.
Hansi Flick's team scored 28 goals in the group stage, more than any other team. Of those, nine were scored by 'Lewy', who distributed his goals across five of the eight matches played by Barça. The experienced forward scored twice against Young Boys (matchday 2), Red Star (matchday 4), Stade Brest (matchday 5), and Benfica (matchday 7). Additionally, he scored once against his former team, Bayern Munich (matchday 3).
Guirassy matched Lewandowski's tally on the final matchday
However, Robert could not score against Monaco, Borussia Dortmund, and Atalanta. At Borussia, Serhou Guirassy also finished the group stage with 9 goals, although the Guinean reached the Polish player's tally on the final matchday, thanks to a brace against Shakhtar. The forward also scored a couple of times against Barça and Celtic. Furthermore, he scored against Bruges, Dinamo Zagreb, and Bologna.
Guirassy will also have two more matches to try to surpass the '9' of Barça in the playoffs, where Dortmund will face Sporting or Bruges. Lewandowski, on the other hand, will have to wait until the round of 16 to resume his scoring rhythm. The same goes for Raphinha, who remains the tournament's third top scorer with 8 goals. The Brazilian provided two assists against Atalanta, reaching the tally of De Ketelaere and Frimpong, with 5 assists.
