The Champions League as we know it will come to an end in the season 2024-2025, since it will implement a new format that will include 36 teams in place of 32. This new format has been described by Florentino Pérez like "unusual" and, in some measure, has reason because of the quantity of changes that will carry out.

The tournament will have more parties because of the increase in the number of teams. The UEFA has announced that now there will be eight parties by group (four like venue and four like visitor) in place of the six usual. Now, instead of having several groups, there will be an alone seccional in which the teams will be classified jointly.

Which changes will make for the Champions League 2024-2025?

It is important to stand out that, in spite of being an only group, the squares will not play 35 parties, but only the eight mentioned previously. From these duels, will make a conjoint final classification to determine which groups will advance to the eliminatory phases. This will delete big part of the appeal of the draws of groups, since only they will use to determine the order of the calendar.

Now there will be four bass drums with nine teams in each one. Also it has entered a modification, because previously the bass drum one was reserved exclusively for the champions of his respective leagues. However, now it will assign to the teams with the best coefficient in European competitions in the last five years.

It costs to limit that the eight duels that will play each cast will determine by means of the selection of two rivals of each one of the four bass drums, confronting to each one of them. This means that they will play four duels home and four like visitors. This will allow that there are more possibilities of crosses between a greater number of squares and, therefore, will increase the opportunities so that the fans see to the teams of elite confront more often in the phase of groups.

How they will classify to the following phase the teams?

Regarding the format of classification, the groups situated of the first to the eighth place will advance directly to the eighth of final, whereas the teams of the ninth to the twentieth fourth place will play a round of dieciseisavos of final. The winners of this round will confront to the combined that they already are in the eighth, and the crosses already are preestablecidos to avoid that the first and second qualifiers confront between himself.

Also it has announced that the four new available squares for the Champions League will assign of the following way: two for the leagues with the highest coefficient in the Ranking UEFA of the previous season, and the others two for the third place in the league of the federation situated in the fifth place of the Ranking UEFA, and the last for a national champion of a league that was not one of the five big leagues, what expands to five the contingents awarded by the call 'route of the champions'.

Besides, another novelty will be the inclusion of parties of the Champions League the days Thursday, in a section called "exclusive week of the Champions League", where will play the usual days more the mentioned Thursday. Equally, voucher recalcar that the last days of the phases of the competitions will contest of simultaneous way, what will require a rescheduling of the calendars of the national competitions.
