Barça is one step away from signing a golden page in the history of Spanish football. Winning all the Clásicos of a season, something that neither the best Barça nor the best Madrid achieved.

Calendar of FC Barcelona

The Clásico between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid is much more than a match: it is the most anticipated duel in world football, a confrontation that paralyzes the planet every time both colossi face each other, whether in LaLiga, Copa del Rey, Champions League or Supercopa.

Since its first clash on May 13, 1902, with a 1-3 victory for Barcelona in the Coronation Cup, the rivalry has grown to become the thermometer of Spanish and European football. On Sunday, May 11, Hansi Flick's FC Barcelona has an unprecedented feat in its hands:

"to be the first to win all the Clásicos in a season"

Below, we review the history, statistics and details of the Barça-Madrid classics.

Flick's 3/3 in 2024/25

In more than 120 years of history, no team has managed to win all the official matches of the same season against its biggest rival in 'El Clásico'. FC Barcelona has the opportunity to break this record in the 2024/25 season.

With three wins out of three to date, including the first Clásico of LaLiga, the final of the Spanish Super Cup and the final of the Copa del Rey, Flick's Barça is close to overturning a century-old statistic.

  1. LaLiga (Santiago Bernabéu, Oct 26): Real Madrid 0–4 Barça
  2. Spanish Super Cup (final, Jan 12): Real Madrid 2–5 Barça
  3. Copa del Rey (final, Apr 26): Barça 3-2 Real Madrid

On Sunday, May 11 (16:15 hours), at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, the fourth and final Clásico will arrive. If Barça wins, it will sign the historic full of triumphs against Real Madrid in the same season.

Current context: LaLiga 2024/25 and the importance of the Clásico

In the 2024/25 season, the fight for the title is once again marked by the Clásicos. FC Barcelona, under the command of Hansi Flick, beat Real Madrid 0-4 at the Santiago Bernabéu in the first round, a victory that gives them advantage in the race for the championship

The second Clásico, which will be played in Montjuïc on May 11, will be decisive in deciding the champion of LaLiga. A hypothetical 4/4 would mean a 7-point advantage over Real Madrid with 3 games to go, in addition to making Flick the first coach capable of achieving a full of victories against the eternal rival.

POSITION TEAM POINTS GOAL DIFFERENCE
1 FC Barcelona 79 +58
2 Real Madrid 75 +36

(See full LaLiga 24/25 standings)

Currently, Barça also leads in goal difference (+58) against Madrid (+36), with 91 goals in favor and only 33 against, compared to 69 and 33 respectively for the white team.

However, statistics and precedents show that, not even this superiority guarantees a full of victories in the Clásicos, something that remains an unattainable milestone.

Historical results: A legendary balance

Since the first match in 1902, the rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona has been characterized by maximum equality. In total, 260 official Clásicos have been played, with 105 victories for Real Madrid, 103 for Barça and 52 draws.

Most of these matches have taken place in LaLiga, but they have also taken place in Copa del Rey, Supercopa, Copa de la Liga and European competitions.

No team has managed to win all the Clásicos in the same season, not even in the years of greatest dominance of one club or another. The historical balance demonstrates the enormous equality:

  1. Real Madrid victories: 105
  2. FC Barcelona victories: 103
  3. Draws: 52
  4. Goals in favor Real Madrid: 437
  5. Goals in favor FC Barcelona: 431

(Data updated April 2025)

In LaLiga, for example, of the 189 matches, Madrid has won 79 times and Barça 75, with 35 draws. This parity has prevented one of the two from achieving a full of victories in the same season.

Historical statistics of the Clásicos by competitions:

COMPETITION MATCHES MADRID WINS BARÇA WINS DRAWS
LaLiga 189 79 75 35
Copa del Rey 37 13 16 8
Spanish Super Cup 17 10 6 1
Copa de la Liga 10 2 6 2
Champions League 8 3 2 3
Coronation Cup 1 0 1 0

(Data updated as of May 2025, may vary slightly depending on the count of official matches)

Seasons with the most Clásicos and the record that has never been achieved

In several seasons, both teams have faced each other up to five times, especially when they coincide in several competitions. However, no club has managed to win all four official Clásicos in the same season.

  • The closest precedent: In the 1982/83 season, Barça won four out of five Clásicos (with a draw in the last one), but did not achieve a full of victories.

In 2024/25: Barça has won 0-4 at the Bernabéu (LaLiga), 5-2 in the final of the Spanish Super Cup and 3-2 in the final of the Copa del Rey. If they win the fourth match in Montjuïc, it will be the first time in history that a team has achieved 100% of victories in a season with four or more Clásicos

In seasons with only two Clásicos (when they do not coincide in other competitions), there have been fulls, but never when four or more matches have been played.

The 2024/25 season: the year of the historic full?

Hansi Flick's Barça is facing a unique opportunity. If they win the last Clásico of the season, they will make history with a 4 out of 4, an unprecedented feat in the greatest rivalry in Spanish football.

“No one has won all the Clásicos in the same season, since they first played on May 13, 1902…”

Expectation is maximum: the possibility of achieving a milestone that neither Real Madrid nor Barcelona have achieved in more than a century of clashes.

In conclusion: The record of full of victories in the four official Clásicos of a season is still valid and may fall in 2025. Barça is just one step away from making history in a rivalry marked by equality and great moments.

Will FC Barcelona beat the record?
