Barça Legends arrive in Argentina! Friendly match confirmed against River Plate

Barça Legends will return to Argentina in July to face the legends of River Plate, the first visit of the culé team to the South American country in 61 years
In what will be a party before more than 85,000 spectators, Barça Legends will close the 2024/25 season with a historic friendly match against the legends of River Plate at the stadium of the 'millionaire' team.
The azulgrana board confirmed the last stop of Albert Ferrer's team, which has traveled the world this year with up to seven charity matches that have generated great expectation in Europe, Asia and America.
When will the next Barça Legends match be played?
The match at the Monumental in Buenos Aires will be played on Saturday, July 5, which will be the first azulgrana visit to the Argentine capital since 1964. In that year, the first team played the so-called 'Copa Confraternidad', a friendly tournament against River, Boca Junior and Botafogo of Brazil.
Previously, the culés were in Buenos Aires in 1928 and 1963, playing a total of six friendly matches. For the legends match, coach Albert Ferrer will have figures such as Vítor Baia, Frank de Boer, Gaizka Mendieta, Edgar Davids, Phillip Cocu, Ricardo Quaresma, Ludovic Giuly, Ronaldinho and Javier Saviola.
The presence of Jesús Angoy, Sergi Barjuan, Marc Valiente, Roberto Trashorras, Marc Crosas and Bojan Krkic is also confirmed. In total, the culé legends have played seven matches in the 24/25 season, touring Brazil, Qatar, Japan, Puerto Rico, India, Mexico and Georgia.
Barça Legends closes 2024/25 with eight matches
The last match was in Georgia on May 16 against a combined team of legends from the European country. The match ended with a culé victory (1-3) in a brilliant day for Ronaldinho and Saviola (who scored twice).
Previously, in mid-April, the azulgrana team drew against the legends of Real Madrid (2-2) in Toluca, Mexico, but the 'merengues' won in the penalty shootout (8-7). At the beginning of the same month, Madrid had also taken the victory in Mumbai, India (0-2).
In March, both teams faced each other in Puerto Rico, with a white victory by 4-3 on penalties (1-1 in regular time). The culés won twice in December in Japan, 2-1 and Qatar, 4-2 on penalties (2-2 before). In their first match of the year, in Brazil, Barça had also won 1-2 against a team of local legends.
