FC Barcelona has an ace up its sleeve to register Joan García before the LaLiga debut. Discover what their plan B consists of
FC Barcelona is already beginning to see the start of LaLiga EA Sports 2025/26 on the horizon, scheduled for next Saturday, August 16, when the 'Culés' will face the opening day visiting RCD Mallorca at Son Moix. A commitment that forces the 'Azulgrana' team to work against the clock on a key issue: the registration of players.
And, beyond the fact that president Joan Laporta has recently acknowledged that this week will be very busy in this section, the truth is that, for now, the incorporations made by the Catalan team in this summer market do not yet appear registered on the official LaLiga website. The big question is clear: will these registrations arrive in time for the match against the Pirates?

Barcelona defines two ways to register signings on time
In this sense, Barça seems to be already working with two main ways to achieve this goal. The first, and most obvious, would be to register Joan García under article 77 of the Rules for the Preparation of Budgets of Clubs and SAD/s in the competition.
For this, the Medical Commission of LaLiga must evaluate the detailed report on the injury of Ter Stegen. If it is confirmed that the absence will be extended for more than four months, something that could be resolved between this Tuesday or Wednesday, the 'Blaugrana' team could use a maximum of 80% of MATS's salary to register the Catalan goalkeeper and give, at least temporarily, a solution to the problem.
In case the commission determines that the German goalkeeper's injury does not reach four months of inactivity, this plan would be discarded. Even so, the team from the 'Ciudad Condal' would already have another formula prepared to register Joan García, especially in the absence of Wojciech Szczęsny and with Iñaki Peña as the only goalkeeper registered in the squad for the start of the league.

The formula of the guarantee: a resource already used in 'Can Barça'
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona does not rule out resorting to an alternative that it has already used in the past: the personal guarantee of a director. Although the entity would prefer not to reach this extreme, it is a resource available in case of emergency.
A clear precedent occurred in 2022 with the incorporation of Jules Koundé from Sevilla. His registration was unlocked thanks to the joint guarantee of Joan Laporta and the treasurer Ferran Olivé. On that occasion, the operation involved about €11M, and the guarantee was canceled in January 2023 after the departure of Gerard Piqué, which freed up salary margin.
Now, the question is whether the 'Culés' will have to use this path again to solve the situation. For now, everything depends on the medical opinion on the injury of Ter Stegen, a verdict that will mark the final strategy of FC Barcelona in this final stretch before the start of the league.
