FC Barcelona added another player to their injury list this Friday. Dani Olmo was discharged from the Spanish National Team after La Roja's doctors confirmed that the player from Egara suffers an injury to his left calf that will prevent him from playing in the matches against Georgia (Saturday) and Bulgaria (Tuesday).

According to the initial medical report issued by the RFEF, the 26-year-old player arrived last Monday at the Spanish camp "with signs of muscle fatigue, as reported by the Barça club."

Olmo had presented some ailments after Sunday's Sevilla-Barça match, but Luis de la Fuente kept him on his list of call-ups. "Although his condition was improving with treatment and load management, during Thursday's session—in which he was only supposed to complete part of the training—he felt discomfort in his left leg again," adds the statement from La Roja.

How long will Dani Olmo be out injured?

In that regard, Dani will undergo further complementary tests in the coming hours to determine the extent of his injury and his consequent time off. The Barça '20' will return to the club on Saturday to begin the recovery process for what is his first muscular problem of the 25/26 season.

Last season, the player from Terrassa missed 15 games for the team managed by Hansi Flick due to injury. As of now, the attacking midfielder is almost certainly out for the La Liga match against Girona (Saturday the 18th) and is doubtful for the Champions League match against Olympiacos (Tuesday the 21st), both at Montjuïc.

Generally, grade 1 injuries (micro-tear) in the calf require a recovery time of 1 to 4 weeks. However, if the tear is grade 2 (partial tear), the player may spend up to 2 months KO. When the muscle tear is complete (grade 3), the downtime ranges from 3 to 6 months, as it requires surgery.

Hopefully, Dani will only suffer an overload or micro-tear, as the injury occurred during training. For now, the '20' has accumulated 569 minutes of action in the 10 matches played by Barcelona in the 25/26 season. The player from Terrassa has started in 5 opportunities, without yet recovering his best form on the field (he has 1 goal and 2 assists).

The National Team preferred to keep Olmo in the squad despite his muscular fatigue

After feeling the prick in his left leg, Dani Olmo withdrew from the training camp in Las Rozas, visibly annoyed. Barcelona had warned the RFEF about his discomfort, but even so, the player from Egara remained in Luis de la Fuente's squad.

In the press conference prior to the match against Georgia, in Elche, the Spanish coach stated that the Barça player "came with fatigue, some discomfort. Today he trained for 15 minutes and didn't feel comfortable. They have gone to do some tests on him, the rest are all in perfect condition."

In that sense, he once again referred to the controversy with Lamine Yamal, who was also forced to play in the double round of World Cup qualifiers in September despite feeling muscular discomfort that ultimately led to pubalgia, which keeps him injured.

"There is no conflict with Flick or with Barça, there is no problem. I feel totally supported, I have a contract until 2028," De la Fuente stated. For Spain, Dani's is the second absence prior to the match of matchday 3 of the qualifiers, after the injury of Dean Huijsen (Real Madrid) was confirmed on Tuesday.

The center-back also arrived at the training camp with muscular fatigue and was unable to even complete a training session. Upon returning to the 'Casa Blanca', the club confirmed that the defender is suffering from an injury to the soleus muscle in his left leg, which will keep him out for 12 to 15 days. Therefore, he is doubtful for the Clásico against Barça next Sunday the 26th at the Santiago Bernabéu.
