FC Barcelona is about to start its Asian pre-season tour with 4 goalkeepers. In that sense, Joan García, Wojciech Szczęsny, Marc-André Ter Stegen and Iñaki Peña would travel with the team in case the '13' blaugrana's departure does not materialize

This situation may be uncomfortable for coach Hansi Flick, as the recent arrival of García and Szczesny's renewal for two seasons has left a complex scenario in Barça's goal, due to the hierarchical imbalance that this would entail. Starting, of course, with the substitution of first captain Ter Stegen.

However, Peña's role will be far from being a leading one; rather, his participation would be testimonial, since the former Espanyol player, Joan García, would have everything in his favor to be the first guardian of the goal, while the Polish player would be the second goalkeeper and the German would become the third alternative, leaving the '13' as the last option.

Flick's team will begin their trip to the Asian continent next Thursday, July 24 to play their first pre-season match three days later (on the 27th), which will be against Vissel Kobe of Japan, while on the 31st they will face FC Seoul and on August 4th Daegu FC, both from South Korea.

Growing interest in Iñaki Peña, without formal offers on the table

Peña has aroused the interest of several clubs in LaLiga EA Sports. Both Betis and Celta de Vigo or Espanyol would have sounded out the future of the player whose contract ends in 2026.

However, the lack of formal offers is becoming the great obstacle for the Alicante native to change his scenery. The goalkeeper wants to have minutes as a starter, something he will not have at Barça.

Therefore, the goalkeeper would not object to his departure, as he is interested in resolving his future quickly to join the pre-season of the team that signs him and have real possibilities of earning a starting position.

Barça seeks to get 10 M€ for Peña, but does not rule out releasing him

Barcelona would prefer the player to leave permanently through a transfer, with the desire to receive at least 10 million euros for the Alicante goalkeeper.

The goalkeeper's market value, according to Transfermarkt, is around 8 M€, but so far, no team would have been interested in offering an amount that comes close to it.

However, the club would also be considering giving the player a letter of freedom to, in addition to facilitating his departure, also continue to lighten the wage bill that would allow the blaugrana institution to approach the 1/1 rule to incorporate new players. The '13' of Barça would be receiving about 1.5 gross kilos per year.
