FC Barcelona has apparently decided not to make its squad public for the match against Atlético de Madrid. However, judging by what has been observed in the Barça expedition, one can get an idea of the players that Hansi Flick will have at his disposal
The FC Barcelona will face a significant challenge against Atlético de Madrid in an electrifying 'semis' match of the Copa del Rey 2024-25. The team led by Hansi Flick will have the crucial task of paving their way to the final at home, facing a rival that has already inflicted a defeat on them this season.
It was at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, in a match of LaLiga EA Sports (matchday 18) near the end of the year 2024, where Diego 'Cholo' Simeone's side defeated FC Barcelona 1-2 in a game that the culés could have won, but failed to close it out in time and lost the lead in the 96th minute. This setback also resulted in losing the lead in the local tournament for the azulgrana team.
For this new encounter against the 'colchoneros' (21:30 h/ La 1, TV3, Movistar+), Hansi Flick has decided, according to various media reports, to follow the same strategy he used in the match against Sevilla FC, keeping the list of called-up players a secret. However, judging by what was observed after the arrival of the Barça expedition at the concentration hotel, Hotel Torre Melina Gran Meliá, one can get an idea of the players that the German coach will have available for this clash.
List of players that Hansi Flick will count on for the match between FC Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid:
- (#13). Iñaki Peña
- (#2). Pau Cubarsí
- (#3). Alejandro Balde
- (#4). Ronald Araujo
- (#5). Iñigo Martínez
- (#6). Gavi
- (#7). Ferran Torres
- (#8). Pedri González
- (#9). Robert Lewandowski
- (#11). Raphinha
- (#16). Fermín López
- (#17). Marc Casadó
- (#18). Pau Víctor
- (#19). Lamine Yamal
- (#20). Dani Olmo
- (#21). Frenkie de Jong
- (#23). Jules Koundé
- (#24). Eric García
- (#25). Wojciech Szczęsny
- (#31). Diego Kochen
- (#32). Héctor Fort
- (#35). Gerard Martín
* The number of each player is indicated in parentheses
Despite doubts about Lamine Yamal's presence, who suffered a severe stomp against UD Las Palmas (including a significant injury) and missed training sessions leading up to the match against Atlético de Madrid, he will likely be able to take action against the 'rojiblancos'. The question now is whether he will start or come on as a substitute.
As for absences, the exclusion of Ansu Fati is not surprising, who has once again not been called up for technical reasons as the squad had to be reduced to only 22 names. The omission that will likely draw attention is that of Pablo Torre, the other player from the Catalan team who did not arrive at the mentioned hotel with the rest of the team and is presumed to be unavailable for this match due to a technical decision.
On the other hand, Andreas Christensen, who has recently rejoined the team's training, has not yet received medical clearance and remains on the list of injured players expected to return soon.
The FC Barcelona arrives at the match against Atlético de Madrid with three injured players.
- Injured: (#1). Marc André ter Stegen; (#15). Andreas Christensen; (#28). Marc Bernal
