The FC Barcelona schedule in February: 6 matches and a breather in Europe

FC Barcelona begins its February schedule this Sunday by hosting Alavés at Montjuïc (14:00 h). In total, there will be six matches to be played for the blaugrana team.
The schedule provides a slight breather for FC Barcelona in February thanks to their direct qualification to the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League. Hansi Flick's team avoids the 'play-off' in the middle of the month, thus preventing them from playing two more high-stakes matches. After a January packed with up to eight matches, the second month of 2024 has six challenges ahead for the culés.
The journey begins this Sunday, February 2, at Montjuïc against Alavés (14:00 hours), in the match corresponding to matchday 22 of LaLiga. Four days later, on Thursday, February 6, it's time to visit Valencia for the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey. The clash at Mestalla (21:00 CEST) will be the third of the season against a 'chés' team that was thrashed last week at Montjuïc (7-1) and, in the first match of the league, also lost at home against the Catalans (1-2).
The Cup, in fact, could add an extra match to Barça's calendar in February if Flick's team meets expectations by eliminating Valencia. The first leg of the semi-finals is scheduled for the last week of the month, between Tuesday the 25th and Wednesday the 26th, depending on the availability of the qualified teams. The other quarter-final matches are: Leganés-Real Madrid, Real Sociedad-Osasuna, and Atlético de Madrid-Getafe. The return of the 'semis' will be played between April 1 and 2.
Barça will have a breather to focus on LaLiga
After the cup match at Mestalla, Barcelona will travel to Seville to face Sevilla at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, on Sunday the 9th (21:00 h). The match of matchday 23 will be key to start reducing the gap with Madrid in the fight for the lead, as a day earlier, on Saturday the 8th, the 'merengues' will host the always tricky Atlético in the Madrid derby.
The whites will face the first of two Champions matches against Manchester City the following week, while the culés will have several days of rest to try to get back into the fight for LaLiga. On matchday 24, Barça will host Rayo on an unusual day, Monday the 17th at Montjuïc (21:00 h). That week, the 'semis' of the Copa Catalunya are scheduled, where the culés must visit Espanyol in Cornellà. February closes with a visit to UD Las Palmas, for LaLiga, on Saturday the 22nd.
