Calendar of FC Barcelona

Days of extreme sadness are being experienced at FC Barcelona and in the world of football. The blue and claret entity is in mourning for the sudden and unexpected passing of doctor Carles Miñarro, who passed away last Saturday before the match against Osasuna. Expressions of grief for the loss of a very beloved and respected person in the institution have not ceased since the tragic news broke, and this Monday an emotional tribute to his memory took place.

The family of the doctor, as well as the Barça family, came together to give a final farewell worthy of such an important and close figure for the Barça locker room. The players wanted to accompany the wife and children of doctor Miñarro considering that they will not be able to attend his funeral, which will take place on Tuesday at nine in the morning, since at 10:30 they will have a training session before concentrating for the match against Benfica.

Several players from the first team, including Dani Olmo, Pedri, Eric Garcia, Ferran, Iñigo Martínez, Gavi, Araujo, Lewandowski, Szczesny, Casadó, Cubarsí, Ansu, Héctor Fort, and Gerard Martín, along with the coaching staff led by Hansi Flick,   and doctor Ricard Pruna, a colleague of Miñarro at the club, were present at the Sancho de Ávila funeral home in the Poblenou neighborhood of Barcelona, which became small due to the numerous presence of players and personalities related to the club and the world of football.

Barça and football mourn the loss of doctor Miñarro

One of the first to arrive at the venue was former president Joan Gaspart, who met with Enric Masip, advisor to Joan Laporta and a member of the sports commission of the entity. Real Madrid also wanted to be present at the farewell of doctor Miñarro, and Emilio Butragueño, director of institutional relations of the club, represented the entity presided over by Florentino Pérez.

In the same way, other athletes from Barça, especially those from the futsal section, of which he was the chief medical officer, attended the wake to say goodbye to such an admired professional.

The mourning at the culé entity continues. This Monday, numerous moments of silence took place in the institution's offices and at the Sports City. In fact, during the first team's training, it could be seen that the flags at the Montjuïc stadium were flying at half-mast. The squad is very affected by the loss of 'Doqui', but they are aware of how much they have at stake against Benfica and, as Flick said, they want to dedicate the victory and qualification for the quarter-finals of the Champions League to him.
