Harry Kane praises Lamine Yamal and 'dreams' of facing him in the Champions League

Lamine Yamal's great form with FC Barcelona allows him to reap praise almost daily in the elite of world football. The last to surrender to the talent of the Mataró native was Harry Kane, just before the winger's debut in La Liga against Mallorca.

"He is a fantastic player. Obviously, for him to be doing what he is doing at such an early age is incredible. He seems to have a great future ahead of him," said the Bayern '9' about the Barcelona star in a chat with 'MARCA'.

Like Barça, the Munich team also started their season with a victory, in this case against Stuttgart in the German Super Cup (1-2). Harry and the brand new Bavarian reinforcement, Luis Díaz, scored the goals of the triumph for Vincent Kompany's team.

Similarly, the English striker expressed his desire to see him on the field, why not in a one-on-one in the Champions League. "Let's see if we face Barcelona in the Champions League this year. I'm happy for him, he's a fantastic player," added Kane.

Barça and Bayern already faced each other last season in the league phase, with a Barcelona thrashing in Montjuïc (4-1). Raphinha ('hat trick') and Robert Lewandowski scored the Barça goals, while the current '10' of Barcelona added an assist.

With the new Champions League format, both teams can face each other in the 36-team league and in the KO phase from the round of 16 play-offs. In 24/25, the Barcelona team reached the semi-finals, while the Bavarians fell in the quarter-finals. Inter Milan was the executioner of both.

Kane sees Barça as favorites in the next Champions League

In that sense, Harry Kane believes that Bayern, along with Barcelona and other greats of Europe, will again be favorites to win the Champions League in 2026. Paris Saint-Germain, as defending champion, will again have tough rivals ahead to try to revalidate the 'big-eared' trophy.

"I think this Champions League is going to be similar to every year. We (Bayern) will be one of the favorites, PSG, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man City, Liverpool... All the big teams are going to have their sights set on that trophy," said the 32-year-old goalscorer.

Both Bayern and Barça will know their eight rivals in the league phase in the draw on August 29. Both will be in pot 1, as current monarchs of Germany and Spain, respectively. Will there be another chapter of the rivalry between Barcelona and Bavarians in 25/26?
